Default 02 WRX Wagon springs on Leg. Wagon?

will it work?
has anyone tried this yet?

i have for sale the suspension off of an 02 wrx wagon.

someone wants to put them on an older (97) Legacy Wagon.

struts and springs only.
any reason why this wont work?

thanks all.

I think there is a thread about this in our recent discussions here, maybe do a seacrch for "strut" and it'll come up.

The general consensus seemed to be that it would work fine. We'd love to see it done in real-life, though!

How about my spring diameter thread, that would at least tell you if that fit or not (height and rate are a different story).

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=308442

I think they might fit, the diameter is only slightly different.

Jamie,

Agree with Ciper, the height and spring rate will be the issues, not whether they will bolt up. They'll bolt up perfectly. In fact, I'm looking for a set of used WRX top hats right now to use with my Eibach Pro Kit/KYB AGX strut combination so I don't have to use my stockers on my 98 GT sedan.

which is why I said one of our recent threads. If I do a search for "Strut" in the Legacy forum, the 13th thread down says "WRX Suspension in a Legacy?". Not too hard to find.

Nobody is above doing a search, not even Subie Goddess. And I bristle at the mildly condescending response to my post, I was only trying to help but at the time didn't have time to find the exact thread. No need to be mean to me.

As already mentioned, if you get the WRX top mounts, they should "physically" fit in the legacy....but who knows about how the car will "sit" or ride due to the difference in spring & damping rates.

I put my sti (spt) wrx wagon struts, springs, and tophats on my bc legacy sedan. so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Kelley,

IIRC the BC chassis was built on the earlier Impreza chassis so there's not a whole lot of difference between these two models and spring and damping rates are reasonably close. With the 2nd and 3rd gen Legacys, the heavier/wider car/chassis does increase suspension dynamic differences to the point that the WRX suspension, while well sorted out on in it's own right, will be compromised on the newer Legacys (BD/BF, BE/BG). I personally am using AGXs from the 93-01 Impreza on my BD with Eibach ProKit springs made specifically for the BD. That seems to work well. I'm told that if I were to use an RS or even a WRX spring set on the BD, the AGXs would wear prematurely and blow out.

BTW - How does your BC handle with the WRX setup?

You got that backwards.....the impreza was built on the legacy chassis

The legacy got higher spring & damping rates due to it being heavier....but that's about it.

don't believe everything you are told. try it your self. the wrx set up works quite well. I am trying a different set up which is designed for a gc impreza.

hear hear! He is exactly right.

I don't even know how many people I heard tell me that the 2pot rear brakes would never work on Legacys because of the parking brake. But I went ahead and did it anyways, and, after a bit of research, it worked perfectly. Same goes with the JDM headlights "blinding" people .

Most information on this website is 3rd, 4th, ... 20th generation, and unless you know the source is credible, should be taken with a grain of salt.

well this set comes without the wrx strut tops...

so... your thoughts guys?

will it still be workable?

in theory i would think so.
just dont want to sell them to someone and have em get stuck with them
