Default Vibrating dash problems, please help!?!?

Ok here is my problem, every time i drive my car my dash vibrates really loud. If i go to puch on the accelerator it will vibrate or if i am on the highway it will do the same. I have a cat back exhaust and the gravel sports intake for mods. I can figure out how to stop this noise. It is really annoying. Can someone please help me with my problem?

Clean out every extraneous item from the car - trays, glovebox, trunk, jack, everything. Get someone to ride with you to try to track down the source location. Wiggle stuff in that area to see if you can re-create the sound. Sounds can be deceiving too. Are all the fittings on your intake, exhaust tight? Loose heat shields or trapped stones are known rattlers. Good Luck.

I beleive the sound is coming from the defroster vents. when i drive i pull my head close to the dash as i can and stil keep an i on the road and i can hear it coming from there. I am not sure if i should have the dealer look at it and see wha they can do. My intake i have it tighten down and placed rubber pieces between the intake mounts and the metal to the engine to limit vibration.

I have tried that as well and was sure that would fix my problem and it hasnt. I even put fiberglass insulation in the dash between the vents and the pod to see if that would fix it and still no luck. I believe its somewhere maybe inside the vent or something. And i would hate to take it to the dealer as i do not know if they can even fix the problem.

Default I have the same problem

I have a similar issue: an annoying vibration from the dash when sweeping by 4000 rpm. I don't hear any vibration noises below about 3500 rpm. My vent trim piece in the dash comes loose on occasion (I can push down on it and it snaps back into place); I think that is the source. I've had the dealer replace it, but it still comes loose!

However, I've noticed that when the blower fan isn't on, or isn't directing air through the vent piece (windshield defrost), the vibration either ceases or is quieter.

I've also got an unrelated vibration (but it sounds similar) from my short shifter when in third gear. One thing you might try is holding the shifter when you hear the vibration to see if the noise goes away.

Hmmm for some reason i think its coming from inside the defroster vent or around the vent itself. I would take it to the dealer but i doubt they can do anything about it. The only time it comes is when i ride on a rough road or when i hit the gas more to move a lot faster.

I've eliminated some of the annoying vibrations in my car (passenger side front speaker, loose bolt holding passenger seat), but there's one more buzzing/vibrating sound I can't locate. It sounds like a loose screwing buzzing round near my glove box or something.
I think I might just have to live with this one though...

I have the same stupid noise coming from the passenger side dash. I took of he pillar glove box and windshield vent trim and it still is there. It does sound like a screw or something and i can't stand it anymore. It became more apparent after I soundproofed the whole car and now it is the only noise i hear. I am about to take the whole dash apart to find out what it is. airbag sensor?

What was the rattle on the front pass speaker, DoinkMobb? I have the same one and was going to do a fix soon. If you know something, it might save me some time!

My rattle on the passenger side was from the globe box. The hook that latches on was loose, so I had to tighten and adjust it so it would snap shut nice and tight.

Hmm ill have to check into that but it seems that the noise in my car is coming from the center of the dash. I would take it all apart but i dont have time and i dont want to risk breaking anything.

Try checking the piece of plastic behind your steering wheel, on top of your steering column. Mine rattles like crazy!

I wanted to give this thread a bump...having the same defrost vent noise. I SWORE it was the center console area that made the noise until my buddy rode shotgun and figured out it was from the defrost vent. It's not the vent itself, but IN there...

Can we get this thread moved to interiors? I don't think this is engine related..

I've got a 4k rattle as well, sounds like it's coming from behind the glovebox somewhere...I'm gonna have my buddy take me for a drive in my car today and I'll try to isolate it.

Since I've made my way into car audio and soundproofing, I've become fairly adept at finding rattles =)
