It's all the damn granola!

I got rear ended in my Camaro in front of Primero (wait, that's not there anymore ) back when I was in school. People in that town are just plain dumb.

And if you think it's bad for cars, it's even worse for that small percentage of students who walk to class on campus. I got hit more than once by bicyclists!

Don't get me started on the bikes! I've probably seen more bike accidents in my life than car accidents. I don't know how you can get in an accident on a bike when you're only going 5mph or slower.

Driving around "stupid" bikers also pisses me off. Some people seem to not understand that they have to obey the rules of the road like cars do. So some people just run straight through stop signs and don't yield to traffic with the right of way. They're lucky i dont want to scratch my WRX or else i would just go straight through them.

Years ago some hiring information was released by the Greyhound Bus Company, concerning driver selection. It was found that the best drivers usually had an IQ in the 110 range and possessed a better level of concentration on lower involvement activities (driving). HMMMM.

If I recall correctly, Davis is a pretty tough school to get into, therefore the students must possess rather high IQ's....ergo rotten drivers

This brings me to Volvos. Have you noticed that for the most part, Volvos are owned by highly educated people. Have you also noticed that most Volvo owners are horrendous drivers. Ask anyone who rides a motorcycle. I have a friend who's been hit twice...yep both of them were Volvos, college professor and a soccer-mom.

I'm a happy, average intelligence guy who, knock on wood, hasn't run anyone over...good thing I'm kinda dumb

I don't think it depends on IQ. All it comes down to is driving experience. I've been driving pretty much everyday since i got my license and i've only become a better driver. Ask anyone i noe. I've avoided many near deaths on the road because i've learned to scan far ahead and to react appropriately to the situation.

Davis is full of smart people yes. But they are bad because many of them haven't driven much before. For example I know of a lot of asian girls who are terrible drivers.

Now i'm not saying all asian girls are terrible drivers. There are all sorts of bad drivers out there. I just noe a lot of asian girls personally and i've noticed that a lot of the bad drivers are from San Francisco. They've never driven much in high school cuz people in the city usually get around by public transportation.

But when they go to college their parents usually buy them a new car which they don't know how to drive yet. Thats how it is for many college students and thats how you get the large number of accidents in college towns.

In contrast, i grew up in the suburbs where public transp is non existent so i had to drive pretty much everywhere which has made me a good driver but terrible at deciphering bus/BART schedules.

This SUV ran full speed into one of our dumpsters in our parking lot last year (the dumpster almost hit my car by the way..). We found out this year that it was 2 guys in the driver's seat; one using gas and brake, the other using clutch/shifter/steering wheel. The guy on the gas wouldn't let go of the gas. Turns out they're really smart guys. Oh ya, I wouldn't doubt that their combined IQs are well past 280. Heh. Heh. Heh.

I watch some middle aged lady yesterday driving her CR-V with a phone in her right hand, a cigarrette in her left hand along with some q-tips in the same hand as the cigarrette...

You can only hope she stuck the wrong one in her ear!

I saw something close to that on Van Ness (101 through SF)

Some woman- Phone, cigarette, in one hand, fast food hamburger in the other, and trying to back up and parallel park in rush hour traffic.

Natural selection has failed.
