Default STi JDM RHD lights question

I assume that this means they are right hand drive. If so wouldn't that be illegal to use them here in North America or are they adjustible?

they're adjustable

I don't know exactly how much, but once I install mine (after the car gets back from the body shop) I'll let you know

speed safely

They are adjustable per se, but the beam no matter how much you adjust goes the wrong way. It goes up and to the left instead of up and to the right. Basically you can look at it as shining at oncoming traffic instead of the shoulder.

Also, they are not DOT approved, so techinically they would not be legal...but no one's going to be able to tell the difference anyways. Of course, to play it safe I got EDM STi's...they're on the way

the low and high beams both have an adjuster for lateral movement

then there is a nother screw that adjusts both? (I haven't played with it yet) for height

I've heard they're fully ajdustable, but we'll see

besides, a lot of cars coming out now have a neutral or even beam pattern- say the new Spec V and I've heard a lot of BMW's and Audis and such

speed safely

neither are most, if not all of the aftermarket lights. At least the Subaru lights(ie JDM + EDM) have the little stamp on them saying they are since it's the same lens from our regular bugeyes. -James

Wow did I get lucky or something?? My jdm headlights say DOT in EXACTLY the same fashion as the nasty usdm versions that I removed.. Makes me and the po-po's think that they are legal.

Cool...learn something new every day. From what I have been reading around here the JDMs weren't and the EDMs were, but I stand corrected...Guess I'll find out when I get my EDMs if I get the DOT just like the OEM nasties

Uh, RHD lights are NOT legal in the USA.

Lenses can have as many acronyms or logos stamped on them as the manufacturer likes; the only thing the DOT wants is that DOT-legal lamps have the DOT stamp.

Subaru uses the same lenses for RHD and LHD lamps, for the USA, for Europe, and for Japan. So, they just put all the stamps on them and they're cool.

It's possible to convert some RHD lamps to LHD lamps. It's really inconsiderate to use RHD lamps on LHD roads.
