Default mbc? which one

hi
i am planning on getting a up pipe, and would like to run a mbc to get a little more speed

which mbc should i get....i dont have a lot of money, but reliability is a issue.

after up pipe, i was thinking downpipe, then catback

after these mods...what else would i consider to gain some more power.

thanks
alex

I've got the Dawes MBC which came with my Stage Zero kit. My Xede now controls boost through the FBC, so I don't need my MBC. I was going to put it on ebay, but if you're interested, let me know.

u dont need a boost gauge if you are gonna get only the up-pipe. from what ive read id recommend a flex joint uppipe, if u do get one. u need a gauge if ur getting a mbc. if you wanna get the electronic those run about 500 bucks, on the other hand u can find a boost gauge for 100 and mbc for 45. i have the joe p mbc. works great with no spikes.

with a ebc...one can set the amount of boost per gear correct?
with a mbc...how does it work?
i have the factory boost gauge...and i dont really boost all that often.

now...you made a comment about the flex joint up pipe...why is this better than a one piece?

thanks
alex

with the mbc, u set the boost in 3rd gear and its gonna stay round the same for all gears, mine had bout 14.7 in first and second and 3-5 bout a little over 15. as for ebc i would guess u can set it in different gears, also i think they have like 2 modes one where u can just boost say 14psi for regular driving and one mode where u can put say 16 for racing, just by the touch of a button.

the stock up-pipe is a flex joint. they say non flex are more likely to leak because if the engine moves around, the pipe will too. this is based on my readings, i am on a waiting list for a jdm up-pipe from i-speedusa, its jdm, no cat with flex joint for 150, they are used. www.i-speedusa.com check it out.
