Default Cruise at 90?

I know that this is a little crazy and stupid - but was driving home tonight in my WRX, and was in a good mood - decided to to set the cruise at 90. Went to set it, and for some reason, it wouldn't stay there. It would set at 89 however. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I wouldn't expect a governor chip for cruise, but who knows.

Mike

I can't really get my cruise to engage above about 85 mph unless it's over about 100mph and I have partial boost.

It won't function at 90 or higher. I believe you should be using your foot at high speed, anyways.

I think there's an industry standard, so to speak, for cruise control programming.

Its disabled below 30 mph and above 90 mph.

It depends on the manufacturer, IIRC. My 3.2 TL can engage cruise control @ 25mph but no lower. It'll also set cruise control @ 157mph (haven't been faster in the car to test faster). I've also owned a few Honda's and a Jag that didn't seem to care about what speed to engage cruise at. Actually, most cars I've been in cruise control's lowest engagement point is 25-30mph but I have yet to drive a car that had a limit as to the fastest speed it'll engage.

Yes it differs from manufacturer to manufacturer.

true story about one of our customers with a Jaguar XJR
Cust Complaint: At extended periods at 120 mph the cruise control disengages.
Yea buddy like we are going to even try to verify that!, sorry your SOL

I think at 90 and above you should be paying very close attention to your driving and not playing with the cruise control

My old orthodontist has a 3000gt vr4 (heavily modded) and he took it back to the dealer to complain about a shimmy at ~130. They fixed it.

I'm from Canada but whenever I am down in the states I set the cruise @ 100mph, and it's no problem. I also have an aftermarket cruise because my TS didn't come with factory cruise when I bought it.
