Post Whats the difference between FHI ver5 suspension and STI ver 5 suspension?

I am researching getting new springs for my 99 Legacy. I am confused with what I found. I found that many people have a pink strut black spring combination that many people call version 5 struts. I found out that these are different from STI springs and struts. I wasn't able to really get specifics. What is the difference? Ive heard the STIs are stiffer and actually lower the car more than the FHI version 5s. Another question on top of the first; will FHI version 5 struts work with STI version 5 springs? What color are the STI springs? Pink? How do I tell if my struts are FHI or STI??

Thanks
Brad

The FHI struts are standard on all GC8 1999+ imprezas. The STI ones are an option on the STI WRX's. Although you could buy direct from STI and equip your car with them, if you lived in japan. They are not that good for the price, and you'll just be paying for the STI name.

the FHI are RED they seem pink because they have white primer underneath them.

The STI struts, are a hot pink color.

There is notable difference, as so in the price. Right of the bat the price should determine which is which.

Try doing a search...we covered this in depth a long time ago.

But...setting that aside, I don't think anyone here (at least I don't know of anyone) that has the REAL STi Version 5 struts. Those that have "those" struts have...in reality...the FHI struts (ie. FHI = originally equiped on the STi V. 5 car... STi V. 5 = aftermarket upgrade struts for the car).

Best way to tell? Price. The REAL STi struts are CRAZY expensive...well, not insane...but I think $1600?? Something like that.

To boil it down...the FHI Version 5 struts, that are for sale all over the place, are a great deal on some great struts. They are the perfect 1st strut upgrade.

The real STi V5 (STi Hot Pink) struts are adjustable, if my memory serves me right. I have the FHI V5 suspension setup, and it's great! Plus it didn't break my wallet in two
