Default Two questions:

Firstly,

Why are there so many sticky topics? I'm much more interested in what others are talking about, and it pains to scroll an entire page to see the buzz.

Secondly,

On this pic: http://www.nasioc.com/sti/SOA_04STi_...e=Alt_Dash.jpg , if you look at the tach, it's hella weird. The space between the 1-2 is 3 times the space between 0-1. Why exactly is that? Is that the same premise behind why we don't get exact quarter measurements for the fuel tank?

No, the space is definately smaller between 1 and 2.

Maybe the engine idle is set to 1000 or just below 1000RPMs so they decided not to waste space on that range and make the rest of the tach easier to read. Who really cares about 0-1000 RPMs anyway, unless you're worried your engine idle is set too low. I think you'll know that anyway when it stalls all the time.

I agree with the sticky topics... NASIOC is excellent compared to most of the STi forums but what I dislike is the "too many sticky topics" but hey, it's free so I live with it and congratulate the "owners" of the board!

If you look at the first tick beyond the tick indicating 0 mph, it is the same size as the ticks indicating 500 rpm betwee the big ticks everywhere else in the dial. I think that the dial just jumps from 0 to ~400 rpm right off the bat. The first little tick is a 500 rmp indicator. Information below 500 rpm is unecessary. I'm not 100% sure, but doesn't the WRX idle around 700 rpms.

That first tick on all subarus isnt 500, its the IDLE TICK!

Check it out next time you get smogged, you will see that when the needle points at it you are right at 700 (or whatever your idle is supposed to be)

Thumbs up

That's a feature!

You don't use the tach at those low RPMs. By compressing the display below the useful range of the engine, you make it possible to display the useful range more clearly (spread out more, higher resolution, bigger writing.)
