Subaru Airfiltration Question

My understanding was that the Subaru airfiltration system was reusable, like a K&N. The boys at JiffyLube told me that it's disposable and tried to sell me a disposable one installed for $30.

Of course I know I could easily do it myself for less than $10, but I don't want to throw away the Subaru filter if it is reusable. Any clarification would be appreciated.

Subaru uses paper filters, if I'm not mistaken. They are not reusable.

Of course, I could be wrong.

i too am pretty certain they are not reusable.

I think that the 2001 and 2000 had k&n filters in the second air box the one that goes on to the throttle body. But they had a warning sticker on the air box saying not to throw it away. i am not sure about the 2002-3 cars but i am sure subaru would put the warning sticker on the air box still. I hope this helps

I have a 2000 and it had a disposable subaru paper panel filter when I bought it. Replaced it with a K&N.
