Can anyone tell me what the differences between the '01 and '00 RS mufflers are? I e-mailed Rally Performance about getting a Scoobysport muffler, and they told me that they didn't make one for the '01 RS. I understand that the '01's outside of America are the new age body (right?), and I made that clear to them when I asked, but still they say that it is different and won't fit. Could someone please elaborate on this for me? Are the hangers or flanges different? What gives???
Also, if anyone could tell me how the STi muffler compares to the Scoobysport, I would appreciate it. Thanks.....

In the us there are no differences between the '00 and '01 rear section. Just get the '00 and you will be fine. As far as the difference between the STI and the scooby sport go. I would say build quality, sound and price. I believe the scooby sport is louder, and from what ive seen for the dealer optioned exhaust is cheaper. If I recall correctly the dealer option sti exhaust is just a brospeed or something like that, correct me if Im wrong.

Their is a real STi muffler section... Looks very similar to the stock RS muffler, but the tip is a bit biger and etched w/ STi... Very nice sound, but getting hard to find...

go with the SS.
i put the one from my wrx on my new TS wagon, and it sounds fabulous. yes, i did have to modify the mid-pipe to make it fit. muffler shop could do cheaply, and quickly. |

The sound of a scooby sport was what made me fall in love with subarus many years ago... and then
I found the Blitz |

I believe the STi is a lot quieter than the ScoobySport.
I had issues with the ScoobySport rubbing when it was first installed. The muffler shop was able to fix me up though. You may want to keep this in mind if your installing it in yourself. Rumble young man rumble. ![]() |

that's the advantage of being able to customize your own exhaust. 8^)
don't have to go back and get the rubbing fixed. i have heard both, and yes, the sti is a lot more mellow than the SS. --r |
