Default Best north-of-peninsula dealer?

A friend of mine in SF is shopping for a WRX, and probably won't be making the trip to Santa Cruz, so are there any dealers north of the South Bay or say, Redwood City, that are especially good to deal with? He probably needs financing.

I bought my 1998 Outback Sport at Marin Subaru in San Rafael.

They gave me a good deal and got me reasonable financing when no-one else would.

I was living down South when I bought my WRX or I would have bought it from them too.

Default Ron Price

Two weeks ago I bought by 03 WRX from Ron Price Motors in South San Francisco for about $1400 below invoice (sonic yellow). If your friend calls them, make sure he talks to Charles Goldfrit, the Internet Sales Manager. I had a fantastic sales experience with him. I have had mediocre experiences with their other sales people in the past, so definitely he should go through Charles, and mention my name (Dave Wong) ... I just referred another friend of mine to Charles last week, and she bought an Outback Sport from him.

Dave

P.S. What's your friend's name? I can give Charles the heads-up.

Damn, 1400 below invoice? what options did he have on the car? Voodoo pricing on added stuff might have been what allowed 'em to do that because otherwise even with SOA's dealer holdbacks I doubt they would have made much if any profit off that price.

Anyway I got mine from Carlsen subaru in Redwood City, love the place. Paid just 300 over invoice for mine, in and out of there in under 45 minutes. Called, they had what I wanted in stock, went down, signed some paperwork, wrote a check and they handed me the keys. Was a thing of beauty.

Zero options, which is exactly what I wanted. The price only applied to Sonic Yellow, which apparently is not selling. (But fortuitous for me, as it was my first choice color, for the very reason that you don't see many of them out on the roads.)

This was the deal he gave me:
2003 WRX Sedan manual, Sonic Yellow w/rear spoiler
MSRP: $25,115
Invoice: $23,041
My Price: $21,612 + tax.lic.doc. Fee

My out-the-door price was around $23.6k.

Of course they are still dealing on other colors to clear them out before MY04, and I think those are going for a few hundred below invoice.

Is there a yellow WRX wagon? Did you get financing, or pay in cash? Thanks for the tip!

mr_disco:

No, they didn't have any yellow wagons. I checked. (Mostly as a courtesy to the wife. I'm glad they didn't have any, as I still wanted the sedan. )

I put a few thousand down, and financed $20k for 60 months at 3.9%. (Although, I hear the current 60-month rate is now 3.49%!)

If your friend goes to Ron Price, let me know his name so I can let Charles know.

I also just got my 03 WRX from Ron Price. Aspen White, 5MT, rear deck spoiler, security upgrade, premium sound. $100 over invoice. I could of pushed them to go lower but I didn't. The sonic yellows definitely aren't moving. I saw about 5 of them in their lot and they've been there for at least a month (probably much longer). Hope this helps.
