Have a Nice Day? 215/50/16.......is there such a thing???

Can anyone find good tires in 215/50/16 size? I want to upgrade from my stock RE92's and keep the same diameter, and this size is the closest match (besides 205/55/16 ). All's I could find was BFG G-force KDW......the price is right at $90 US a tire, according to Tire Rack, but for some crazy reason local dealers sell em for $225 Canadian!! I aint spending $1G on tires. Can anyone reccomend any other tire in that size? I can't seem to find ANYTHING!!! I'd get 205/50/16's, but my un-lowered car is gonna look all lifted.

Anyone driving up to Montreal anytime soon?? Bring me some tires!

Jon

First of all, I'm not all surprised about the pricing - local tire dealer prices are always way more than the Tire Rack's prices. I assume the Tire Rack won't ship to Canada?

As for tire availability, I think you've found the only one - the KDW.

If you really want a wider tire, a 225/50-16 is actually a much better match (to the stock 205/55-16) than the 215/50-16 when it comes to diameter. However, the 225s are definitely not optimized on a 6.5" rim. Frankly, I think you're better off just sticking with a 205/55-16 - a much wider range of options and a better fit on the relatively narrow rims.

Arghhhhhhh.......I was hoping to go to a lower rprofile for sharper steering response. Think 50 series will make a big diff? I'll prolly end up getting 305/55/16's, its the cheapest route. I've noticed that the stock RE92's are a very narrow 205...they dont look wide at all! Are REAL preformance 205's wider (in reality, not theoretically)? I know they're all 205, but some are wider than others.

To answer your question, yes, I think TireRack ships to Canada, but the Duties, taxes and shipping, plus the ***** conversion rarte will kill me! I need to move to the states.....

I think I'll go with Bridgestones RE730. After hearing so much about them on this board, plus some good comments at TireRack, they seem like the right tire for the RS. I'll get the stcok size too. Hope they're not expensive!
