Default Eibach'd and Strutbar'd

Dropped the Rex today.

My roommate works at Don Miller, so we were able to go put it on the lift and use all the air tools.

It only took us 3 hours to do the entire job, including the alignment. but my drivers rear wheel still has a few degrees of negative camber that we couldn't adjust.

i didn't realize how much of a pain the rear struts were to get to. removing the seat, then fitting the wrench inbetween the seatbelt mounting points and such. we couldn't get the airtools in there, so we had to do'em by hand.

but overall, i'd have to say the job was fairly simple. and i was impressed with how well the STi strutbars fit the towers.

now once the snow stops, i can get the rest of the body kit on, then head up to revolutions to pick up my wheels. then i'm done. (for awhile.) weehoo!

I will be putting on a set of Eibachs this summer and I am in the Madison area too. Where do you think I should go to get them put on? I won't be able to do the job myself because I am mechanically challenged and don't have the right tools for the job. I am glad that you like the new ride.

Got my Eibachs ordered - just waiting for them and the rear endlinks to arrive and I can do everything at once - Struts, springs, front and rear sway. Mmmmmm.

rear endlinks are a good choice. this was the first time i'd been able to get a good look at everything that makes up these beasts.

i can't believe the stock pieces are plastic. i'm definately replacing mine, and i'm sure i'll probably upgrade all the swaybars at the same time.

so, lucky you.

I still dont think anyone has beat the time we got for my suspension change. Sti v5 struts and springs. Including changing over parts like hats and dust covers.... 54 minutes wheels on to wheels back on.

Congrats on the purchase! How do you like the Eibachs so far? I'll probably be getting a set this summer.

Hey N00b,
Maybe we will go ahead and put my front lip on today. I am getting anxious.

Heh it took me 90 minutes to swap out my DMS50s for my stock stuff the other night, by myself. Putting the 50s back on by myself would be another story though, due to their size and weight.

PS. You probably don't want to be using any kind of air tools on the strut top bolts.

So how does it ride on stock dampening ?
I didn't know you were going to do something so soon otherwise I would have beamed you the info sooner...

I have a set of cheep whiteline rear drop links on a stock bar & it feels nice... (yes I have heard they can break on a 24+mm bar)
I have also added a full rear frame stiffener (trailer hitch ) nothing says getting own3d like getting beat by a WRX with a trailer hitch...
The Kartboy shifter bushings are nice too, no slop.
so when are you going to do an uppipe?

Get a set of rear adj. camber bolts... http://www.vividracing.com/prod_suspaccess.php

Once I get around to it I'm throwing in my STi motor & trans mounts.

Let me know when you plan on running to Rev. Motorsports... I need some rims too... maby a convoy up there...(don't tell my wife)

Pd - so far on one day of driving... i really like'm. given i've only gotten to drive them in the snow. they feel a LOT like stock. nice and soft. i was just afraid they were gonna be nasty and i'd be bouncin around like a civic with cut springs.

Midway - i'm sure we prolly coulda done them in less than 3 hours too, but i'm a n00b. yesterday was the first time i've ever even touched a suspension. it seems perdy easy tho. a couple of brakeline system bolts, a couple strut bolts, 3 top bolts, ... i could see each fronts taking 10-15 minutes. the rears are a pain tho because of removing the seats and then the small work area by the seatbelts.
maybe next year when i replace the struts i'll see if i can't beat that.

Dman - couple hundred laps left in the race, and i'll be givin ya a call. hopefully i can make it in and outta your driveway.

GL - what you doing next weekend? or the next? i'm really stoked about getting up there. so if you're up for it.... lemme know. hopefully they have my package ready. (oh yah, and thanks for the link, i'm all over it!)
