Cool New Impreza WRX STi VIP Launch Photos

Went along to the VIP launch of the 2003 STi this evening, and managed to take a few happy snaps for you all. Good food and drink was put on by Subaru, and as per usual there was many little trinkets and the like to play with. One thing probably worth noting is that the new black paint is different to the previous models, in that its called "Graphite Black" and seems to have speckles through it which looks quite good under the right light. (See photo here: http://photos.smktech.com.au:58885/g...0-0025_IMG.jpg ) Anyway, you can catch all the photos I managed to take (including that of the 22B and the MY03 STi on the skid pan) here:

Action shot of STi skid pan demo... (we were all up on the balcony, hence the zoom/blur)

The service managers car from STi @ Docklands... gotta love that ride height

Enjoy,

Gerrod

I thank you for giving us the pics. Any new look at this car is great. Lets hope that these looks and colors will make it to the states. (Love the 22B shots only 400 made and you saw one; lucky you)

Yeah, those flared guards look absolutely awesome in the flesh. That car is owned by Subaru Australia and was the 1st of only 8 22Bs to come into Australia. It pretty much gets put on show every time they put on an event at the STi centre... as it should, because the car is and will be a classic.

I'm most likely going to get a black STi - what do you think of the new color?

http://photos.smktech.com.au:58885/g....jpg&preview=1

is this the new black? that undertone looks really weird in the light.

I need your opinion since you saw it in person. Thanks

The black looks really good in person... I think it's better than the MY02 black. The flash in that photo probably makes the effect look more dramatic than what it is in real like, but it does look good. It's more of a metallic finish than the flat black of the previous year.

Actually, thats not correct. The OZ/Euro spec car wont get the new exhaust manifold, sump, turbo, etc until next year. The MY03 STi has the same set up as the MY02 STi.

Yeah, before the MY02 that is. We used to get limited imports into the country through Subaru... I think about 400 every 12-18 months which were all JDM cars with very slight changes to make them legal in Australia. Now we can walk into an STi dealer and pretty much pick one up on the spot, with whatever options we choose. They're part of the standard car line-up....
