Default Evolution 8, Sat in one today, Mark up at $59,100

First thing, it is one bad ass car. The interior kind of sucks, it is basically a lancer inside. No I didn't drive it.

After hearing that my brother bought one, I went down to Santa Monica Mitsubishi to check it out. I told the guy that my brother just got one, he asked me how much did he pay, I told him MSRP (~$30,000). He told me that that was impossible because they are charging $28,000 over MSRP.

After being in shock I asked him again how much... He wasn't kidding, they are selling the car for $59,100. That is what the mark up price is on the sticker. I told him he was nuts, cause you can get it many other places for MSRP.

To my discuss, never go to Santa Monica Mitshubishi (or Subaru, that's another story).

Thumbs down

Yeah, that salesman is an idiot ... even the guys over here in Phoenix asking $5k over are idiots ... salesmen in general are idiots.

Makes you wonder if the STi will be $70k

amen brother!! i stopped by santa monica subaru when i was looking for a 2.5RS and saw a silver one with leather seats. So we talk to the salesman and gave him our offer.. the guy shook his head. My dad's like..ok, lets go... I didn't wanna go..haha. So the next day, we checked out Timmons in long beach, those guys were friendly and worked with us. They didn't have the RS i wanted (blue or silver w/ leather), so they did a dealer search and found THE silver RS from santa monica that i looked at the day before, and they accepted our offer!! to those dealers at santa monica

i went over to the mitsu dealer here in costa mesa and the sales guy told me that they're going to mark it up 10k and i thought that was nuts, now if the guy would have told me 28k...i don't know if i'd fall on the ground laughing or just punch him in the eye

Yup alot of dealers are marking them up 20k! , they are just crazy! Why would people pay almost 60k for that car, I would buy a BMW M3, alot better car!

US Legal.

JDM EVO VII: 37,900
JDM EVO 8: 39,900
JDM STi: 37,872

why pay more?

anyway, the M3 used to be $75k. and now it's MSRP. it's supply and demand. the EVO8 price will go WAY down as soon as the STi comes out. watch.

who is the kind of guy who can afford a $20k markup?

the kind of guy who does this:

Wait about 6 months and I bet you can get the EVO for under MSRP if you go through the fleet manager. But seriously, if you want to buy the car now (same with the STI when it comes out) don't pay over MSRP. Remember when the WRX 1st came out, some people were charging $3-$4k over MSRP, now you can get the car for $22,000.

Default Evolution Imports

From what I have found out about the Evo's from Evolution imports are not legal. I have seen 3 of there cars and none of them have VIN plates. Adams story is that they are on the way. I talked to D.O.T. and they said that the cars can not be on the streets without a vin.

Do these EVO'S have the fuel vapor recovery system, obd II, vin plate, epa smog sticker ????
