It isn't black, its blue!

Default Death and mayhem on Doughnut Rally!

-actually no death- no injuries, no mayhem, no participants- once again NOBODY CAME OUT.....

I can't figure you guys out- a hundred cars will parade up Mt Hamilton one day a year, but the rest of the year, Subie enthusiasts won't drive farther than the Krispy Kreme closest to home, and then just to sit around and tell stories......

I've got to find a group that wants to drive, it doesn't seem to be here.....

I would have loved to have gone...
Well not really.
See, I work like most people here.

Honestly, I think it is stupid, which is why I imagine there isn't as much participation as you would like.
With gas prices rapidly approaching $2.50/gal, many folks probably want to save their leisurely driving funds for like, I don't know, going out on a date on the weekend? Driving to Tahoe for Ski/snowboarding? The track?

Do you own stock in Krispy Kreme or something?
Why not a Carls Jr rally?
Arbys?
Subaru Dealer Parts counters?
24 Hr Fitness with a stop for 12 reps of bench presses at each?
None of those sound really good either.

Maybe we can all figure out something more enticing to everyone. How about a State Park run down Hwy 1, on a weekend day?
At least you could take in all the nice Parks and contribute to keeping them open. Plus take pictures, enjoy the oudoors and all meet in San Luis Obispo for dinner or something. Significant others could be your navigator and they could enjoy it as well.
Hwy 1 south of Carmel sure has some nice turns too.

Where are you at? Oh yeah, not Washington. I'd do it. Blah, we don't have any snow anyways!

No, although they were one of the last succesful IPO's last time I checked...perhaps I should be considering adding it to my portfolio.

So far this tremendous promotional opportunity has added about $15 to their gross revenue stream, far less than the weekly "meets"

Think about it- how many times in a night could you deal with purchasing something from those places, where one doughnut costs less than a buck, put a couple people in the back seat and nobody has to eat more than one!

But really-
Because the only places that had regular "meets" are these friggen doughnut shops!!!
- believe me it wasn't my first choice- it's the only place that seemed to gather i-clubbers on any kind of regular basis.
It helps that they timestamp receipts.

Would anybody come out to do that?

I've tried that too- with no takers- really this web board has no drivers on it, part of why I bought a Subaru was it's rally heritage and rally doesn't only mean flat out stage racing.
Down in So Cal they have the ITN series, up in the Northwest they have the Oregon Rally Group and Rainier AutoSports Car club doing regular rallies- and the Bay Area has a bunch of posers waiting for brucelee to tell them it is THE DAY to parade up Mt Hamilton......

You say when and where- If I'm not out running a National SCCA rally or organizing or working a stage rally I'll be glad to come along on a "drive"

In the mean while I'll be spending more time on rally boards.

The park run sounds like a great idea. It has to be on a weekend of course so people can make it. If its well planned out and enough notice is given I'm sure many would enjoy a run like that. Another idea is Napa... a wine tasting run would be sweet if it wasn't for that whole DUI thing

Seriously, I'd love to go on a drive. That's the thing I miss most about my VW, Norcal VW did drives all the time. Lets organize this for some day that's convenient for people and also something that friends and significant others might enjoy as well.

Thanks
-- Ed

Even though I'm always working too...major props to psoper for always trying...I'd be there if I wasn't a.) sleeping or b.) working

But I'd totally be up for a weekend thing, where it's semi-long and fun, and something where "Da ladies" could come along for the ride.

Pete,

I guess I will see ya on the 16th. We will be driving that day. And it should be close to a hundred miles by the end of the day. If your focus for fun is the South Bay, and it's not to your liking, then come up north an hour or two. I am always up for a drive. Remember the silver RS in the rain on that wonderful twisty Fort Ross road a year or so ago? Was that fun or what? I still have my car and the roads are still there, but you are not. It has been posted for a couple of months on both clubs. Another North Bay meet. Are you coming?

I really wanted to go to the first one - but work came up for me and I can't get out it.

This time it was bad timing, I knew I couldn't go....

Default Actual driving going on...

I don't know about anyone else but I do the Hwy 9 to 35 to 92 run from Saratoga every weekend that it is sunny. I see at least 2 or 3 WRX's every time no matter which weekend day it is or the time. That drive is always fun and if you want something a little longer you can take 92 to 1 and go down 1 as far as you like. Like some other have stated it is a great drive.
