Default Midpipe/exhaust question

I'm thinking of getting a new 2.25" midpipe welded up to my Blitz Nurspec.

I have a 2.25" mid right now already, with no resonator, and an Apex'i silencer in the Nurspec to quiet things down. The loudness of the Blitz doesn't bother me, its the damn excessively loud droning in the cabin that bothers me. The silencer takes away the droning but makes the sound outside well, sound like my damn car is farting. I've had people comment on my car asking just what exactly is wrong cause it sounds so bad.

Anyway, what I'm wondering is would a secondary muffler welded into the midpipe would do a better job of cutting down the droning? Decreasing the overall sound level I reckon would happen as well but I can live with it. Or would a resonator do the job?

Secondly, does placement of the resonator or muffler matter in the midpipe?

Thirdly, is there even space under there for a secondary muffler? I haven't looked under there in a while and can't remember if there is.

put in borla headers instead. it will totally transform the sound. this was my car before borla. http://members.aol.com/specopsrb6/scoobyblitz.wav

post borla.

that was my car with stromung 2.25 midpipe, nurspec, and borla headers. from what i remember, there was no droning. but i cant remember too well, it was a couple years ago that i had that setup.

I have an automatic I should mention, so when I'm cruising around town without the silencer more often than not the rpm is at the range where it drones the loudest.

I want to get rid of the droning with the minimal cost without using the silencer.

If I'ma get headers I'm getting custom 4-1 equal length a la MRT header made up.

I had custom 4-1 MRt-esque headers w/ a 2.5" on top a Blitz can and goddddd darn it sounded good. Still the best sounding RS I've ever heard. Till I lost hearing sensitivity from how freaking loud it is.

Now, I'm running TWE headers, and 2.25" Brullen quiet. Still decently loud and drone but not nearly as bad. I can drive comfortably and converse on the highway now. I think its the hi-flo cat that makes it drone on mine.

How are the TWE headers Wistful?

So no one has any idea if a secondary muffler would help cut down or eliminate the droning?

Currently I have Borla Headers, Random Tec Cat, custom 2.25 midpipe w/ 18" resonator, and a blitz nur spec rear section.

Before I installed the hi flow cat, I had the same setup minus the custom mid pipe I was running a stromun 2.25. After installing the cat it was way too loud. Un bearable and definently would had gotten me the attention I don't need. So I went and had a 2.25 pipe made with a resonator. The sound is ok... the midpipe is made out of the everyday shop metal so it had a tinny sound to it. But the resonator all but elimated the drone I had on the highway.... I guess long story short resonator killed the drone.

So its safe to say a reasonably large resonator would do the job of cutting down the drone then? Good good.

I've tried everything, winamp, winmedia and even IE...nothing works. Says there's an error downloading the codec or something...codec error anyway.

Well, does your exhaust still drone or did the Borlas cancel it out?

i remember before goign turbo, i sold the borlas and went back to stock headers/2.25 midpipe/blitz and i was disgusted by the sound. it droned like crazy and i could rarely find an rpm that i liked to cruise in. i found it hard to believe that i actually liked the sound before. from what i remember, there was less droning if any. it should replace that ugly drone with a strong flat 4 rumble.

if you can, maybe find someone local with some borlas, and ask if you can just test fit them for a couple minutes.

on a side note, ive sent the link of the wav's to other people and it works for them ill try to change the wavs somehow and upload them in a bit. edit: im uploading the files to my geocities account. they came out to be 2.4mb wav's but hopefully itll work for you. its not cruising sound clips, sorry its just startup with some revs.

I think a resonator would be more economical though. That's mainly why I'm wondering if a resonator would work.

Unless I can find someone selling their Borla's for like...a hundred dollars. Canadian.
