In Japan it is known as the Lancaster, but its the same vehicle. I beleive in Europe it is still known as the Outback. I do not know for sure about Australia but they probably follow JDM.

Let me be the first to ask why it needs it's own forum? It was doing OK mixed in with all the other Legacys...

oh well, not that I really care, I don't have one.

Ha, I thought the same. I just saw this forum on my way to OT.

I saw the Legacy forums supported Outbacks, so I thought OB's didn't need a respective forum. Oh well, it might be a good idea I can't see.

I think its better for the Outback "legacy" and Impreza Outback sport to have its own forum.

If the question is Legacy or Impreza generic it should be asked in the TECHNICAL forums.

The Outback is considered it's own line by subaru, so I personally felt it would be a good idea to get a more universal group going we should have an Outback Specific area!

Welcome.

Nope, Nowhere on my car does it say "Outback", I dont even have the Outback Leather front seats that say Outback. The only badges i have are Legacy, Limited, and SUS

The SUS is the bastard american stepchild of subaru.

In Australia we call them Outbacks, actually, isn't it the Australian Outback that gave it its name?
Paul Hogan was used by SOA to advertise them in the US years ago (back when he was considered an Australian).

A Legacy here is called a Liberty, I have no idea why, so now two manufacturers have cars called Liberty on sale here, Subaru and Jeep

In Australia the "Legacy" is a group of War Veterans I believe, similar to the VFW groups found here in the US. When FHI started selling cars in Australia, they couldn't use the Legacy name cause it would conflict with the "Legacies" group. At least that's what I've been told.

Seems like a good idea.

We've got an OBS in our household and it seems like it just gets lost and passed over in the New Age forum.

Oh...and I want an SUS too. Saw one the other day in Key West...haven't seen one on the road in a long time.
