Unhappy Help car wants to overheat at idle

When I drive the car around the temp gauge reads normal and I drive about 60 miles a day on the freeway without problems. Only when the car sits at idle the temp slowly raises up, but never gets to the hot point. I turn on the heater full which is hot and it helps bring the engine temp down. Both fans are working properly, but they don't seem to be able to cool the engine enough. I think it's either a thermostat or soething blocking the coolant. Any ideas??

Could be a bad thermostat, a blocked radiator, or maybe your fans aren't working as well as you think. When was the last time you had your radiator flushed? You may be due. I say take it to the dealer. Are you still under warranty?

sounds like a slightly stuck thermostat...that or a faulty water pump.

There is a small leak coming from where the water pump mates to the block, but it's been like that for awile now. I'm doing a EJ22T swap soon, so I think I'm going to change the water pump and thermostat to be safe. Thanks fellas.

you need a water pump, that leak is coming from the water pump weep hole, that tells ya when the pump is bad.
