Default Xede or UTEC?

Hey guys, looking for some opinions from people whom have used and seen these installed in their or their friends WRX. From what I have read there is not much difference in these units except price. But then again I am kinda new to this so I am looking for some direction as far as which is the better unit for a stock WRX with VERY MILD upgrades. Any info is much appreciated.

Neither are for you. Both are overkill. Get either a reflash or a used unichip.

Default unichip?

Got one and plan to upgrade to Ecutek. I have Vishnu Stage 0 Unichip w/o the pnp harness. I also plan to sell my Apex'i AVC-R boost controller with it. Let me know if you're interested in the pair (in about 1-2 months or so).

getting reflashed and getting a unichip are two different worlds...did you mean something else????

ecu flash - $800+
unichip - $300

Look towards the reflash- Just remember that if you do upgrade again it will cost you big- 175 for the reflash+ having to put your car down as there is no exchange at this point + rental car= Utec price- hence MP5 UTEC user now- But if I was just wanting a stocklike fast car I woulda stopped at a Vishnu stg 1 /w reflash. It is a great package!

Running stage 1 with mild mods on a UTEC and loving it. The upfront cost is higher, but i can swap between stock and stage 1 with the push of a button. Reflash to me seems too permanent.

Default UTEC it is!

Hey thanks guys, and mtb_dude! I think that will will bite the bullet and go with the UTEC. I have not heard anything bad about this, and it seems to be the best bet if I want any future upgrades as well.

is it wise to get a utec w/o changing the up and down pipe? Or is it not necessary to do so. I am planning on getting a up/down pipe , but would like to get the engine mgmt first.
