I don't know if this has been posted yet, but is it just me or does it not come w/ a tower brace? Like the nice one on the previous STI's. Besides this, has anyone else encountered other missing things? I know radio is an option, so I guess the $500 is going towards the Carbon tower brace

we'll I think wheel choice of gold or silver is now becoming more of a reality. Probably an upgraded dealer installed security system or some small parts such as mudgaurds...

In no particular order the first option that came to my mind was real & functional mudguards.
I'm going with the 'Universal' fit items from JAOS USA;http://www.jaosusa.com/products/mudguard After that considering my delivery will most likely be in the middle of winter, a set of steel wheels painted either all black or gold with Blizzaks mounted. Preferrably the wheels will be narrow in width and the tires tall in section for extra bounce & shock absorption. A third option of course is a decent but not too costly/heavy radio with CD/MP3 player. In fact, I may pass on the CD player part and just have an MP3 player with HD setup hooked up to keep weight down. Fourth option would be a completely hidden RADAR & LASER detector for Officer Friendly and his pals. I live in VA so its got to be both hidden and radar detector detector capable. I think a Velntine One with remote would fill the bill nicely. Fifth option is a small and portable UHF/VHF receiver patched into my sound system that can pick-up police radio and trunked systems. Preferrably a fully digital and scanning unit with 100's of presets and the ability to monitor analog as well as digital transmissions. I'll have to hook up with friends in CA though as Uncle Sam's FCC doesn't allow these speciality units to be sold at the local Radio Shack. Option number six would be five point racing belts for the driver as well as a new helmet painted to match the Subie. A good thing to have when auto crossing. A seventh choice would be a really good quality car cover. My eighth choice might be fog lamps. I live off a semi-deserted road where every lumen counts. I don't know if they would be Subaru stock or aftermarket but somethign that fits, can support a white and yellow lens/bulb, and has lots of candle power. Option number nine could be a very very very good anti-theft system. I'm not talking an 'Ungo Box' or 'The Club' either. Something that would immobilize the engine and/or fuel pump as well as page me and blow the horn while flashing the lights. My tenth option would be something I've always wanted to do as an upgrade but never spent the time. An air horn from a commerical truck. Something with big DB's that'll scare the bejesus out of the Excursion or H2 that cuts me off on the highway. And when the alarm goes off so does the superhorn. I'll wire in a two way switch that will allow me to select either the stock horn or the air horn as required. An eleventh 'option' would be to ditch the stock spare tire & wheel along with the jack in exchange for a cell phone car charging cord, a AAA membership and a can of 'Fix-A-Flat'. That alone should gain me about 40lbs of unneeded fat and pick up a few 100ths of a second in acceleration time. The STi will be a lot of fun....! |
