Lightbulb The Official Mid-A Meeting Spot Thread

Ok Mid-A, here's our new thread for organizing meets.

So post your ideas of places and days you'd like to have them.
We should at least rotate our meeting spots weekly, it's only fair.

For example: 1st week - somewhere in Rockville, 2nd week - somewhere in NOVA, 3rd week somewhere in Annapolis, and so on...

And all other meets in between can also be posted here.

this idea sucks....we should only have meets in Fairfax...right next to my house! Well i dont know of anywhere really in Anapolis, but i would say the 1st meet be at B&N and the 2nd meet be at RTC...but thats just my sugguestion.

For Annapolis meets, might I suggest the Harbor Center parking Lot where Tower Records and TGI Fridays is? Late Friday nights, the parking lot is generally dead, with the exception of TGIF and Tower, because Office Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond close earlier.

Less problems would be had, because that area seems to be fairly upscale.

Some of these places will need a trial and error approach. If we meet there (the trial part) and the authorities ask us to leave (the error part) we will know that that is not a good place. I suggest that when we select a place we have an alternate place in the area so that if we need to disperse we have another location to meet that everyone knows to go to.

I havent really hung out at Harbor 9 for years due to the fact that the movie theaters started going down hill and tower records not being open until midnight anymore. SO I dont know how crowded it is anymore. Usually meets start around 7pm so I dont know how crowded it is around that time. But your right after 9 the only places in that parking lot that have cars in it is TGI fridays. I dont believe any ricers hang out there....as a matter of fact Im not aware of any meets in the annapolis Area, so we'd be the only ones. I think Harbour 9 is a fairly good decision. I dont think police will be a issue cause ....I used to skate up there with about 15 other guys and we were never harrassed.

Harbour 9 also has a barnes and nobles and STarbucks as well as a TGI fridays..........Friday nights are good nights at fridays .....lots of hmmmmmmmm people of the female kind. SO ya Harbour Nine sound good to me.

Ok so I suggest the Rockville meet still stay in tact for the DC area people.........Annapolis for the Mid state people ....now we need a meet around Baltimore.....Did some Suggest Riesterstown????? I think that area would be good definatly for the northern part of the state, lower PA and Western Maryland?

Sooo I need a suggestion fo rthe nothern part of the state

Somthing that occurs to me, at least for the people in the NOVA/Baltimore area, is that we find 4 places in a rough square around the Capital Bwy and swap to a different place once a week, unfortunatly my knowledge of the area kinda sucks so I can't really suggest places, but its not the worst idea I've ever had.

Bmore inner harbor area would be nice in the summer but they don't have much free parking lots that are big enough for that many cars.

Friend of mine who organizes Celica meets actually calls the malls ahead of time sometimes to get permission to use the parking decks. As long as you're on the top floor and not doing burnouts, they apparently don't really care... something to look into for whoever decides to take point on organizing meets. I think they've actually gotten permission at RTC before (but don't quote me - I can't keep all the places straight)

How many cars normally show up to Rockville on the average meet night? I haven't been yet.

We see pretty consistently about 5-7 cars at Rockville every friday night. It can be more and it can be less, but there is a pretty standard group of us with nothing better to do on a friday night

When the weather was warmer last year and the locals come out of hibernation as well as when the NOVA people caravan up we have seen 20 to 25 Subies on a good night.

Yeah, during the warm months the meets get pretty large. I think we were averaging 15 cars for the most part. But there were some times when we had more and less. None to less, there are all kinds of cars there. A couple hundred maybe. About half of thoughs are riced out thugs . There are some pretty nice cars there though.

When I get an open friday evening, I'd really like to check the meet out. If nothing else, its a free car show, and I get to see other cars like mine that have mods done to them. Mine is only stock for now (except for the disabled DRLs ).

So there are more than just Subarus there. Thats cool. Kinda reminds me of warmer months in Upper Marlboro, MD. There's an Arby's on route 301(used to be Roy Rogers). Seems every Wednesday around 6pm in the summer, you'll see a lot of classics, muscle cars, and some rice. Occasionally a viper or ferrari will show up, but its mostly 70s domestics and new rice. Arby's loves it as well, because it brings them a lot of business on Wednesdays, so there are no cops telling people to leave.

That reminds me.. I'm not sure when it's starting up again, but during the summer Mt. Airy has a classic car show at the Food Lion parking lot every first or second monday (or something like that, I'll find out). Lots of very shiny classic and kit cars, and some serious muscle cars. Old guys on lawn chairs w/ coolers of beer and what not. If any body would be interested on rolling over there one night let me know. It happens at least once a month if not more often and it's usually the same folks showing up so it won't matter when we go.

That does sound like fun. I miss going to the Early V8 Ford shows in VA and PA. Let us know about this.

BTW Ron, Remember I told you my memory sucks... I forgot the Dremel at home. I woke up, thought about it... took a shower and headed to the kitchen...thought about it. Popped in a bagel in the toaster, smeared Philly creamcheese all over it and walked out the door sans Dremel. But no worries. It's being delivered to me at lunch.

NO worries, I'm EXACTLY the same way At least you didn't forget the toast in the toaster when you left. I hate it when I prepare food and then leave the house without taking it with me

Nah, I'd never do that... you've seen me... I'm not a thin man. Food it top priority in the morning.... probably the reason I forgot the Dremel.
