Default when you pump gas...

ok i have a quick question. i swear that before i had a recent CEL fixed when i unscrewed the gas cap i would hear a "pssst" kinda noise due to the vaccum in the gas tank. now it doesnt do that. can someone unscrew their cap and tell me if you hear that noise?

thanks in advance,
Nate

Mine does it if I filled up and didn;t open the tank until it was below half a tank. you could have a leak in your tank (like you think) and that's why you are throwing a CEL.

so your gas mileage is suffering?

and you keep tossing CEL's or? (kinda confused here...)

when is the last time you changed your plugs?
what about plug wires?

o2 sensor could be going too...I would scan the ecu to find out what code its throwing....probably p0130 which is o2 malfunction code.

the code i WAS getting (this is fixed now) was the code for a loose gas cap (po404.. i think). but it was infact a cracked peice of plastic on the top of the fuel tank. (a little nipple with a hose running to it. i couldnt tell you what it was called cuz 2 local dealerships couldnt tell me what it was but i fixed it and the CEL is gone now and has been gone for over a week) my wires have less than 5k on them and the plugs less that 3k so i dont think thats my problem. im averaging about 230 to 260 miles per tank. i think thats pretty low or am i wrong? i dont really drive the car hard anymore, i might take it over 4000rpm about twice a week.
