Default Will the US Target the French Embassy in Iraq?

Just to rub it in that we're better than them? I mean, we've already renamed french fries...

Well since we hit a Chinese embassy in Serbia with a cruise missile cause we never updated our maps to show that it was there, hell anythings possible. However do I think it would be deliberate? No of course not. Besides theres a chance of danger so you know the French hauled ass on out of there before any shooting started.

In fact, "we" haven't renamed french fries. A few idiotic legislators with more time than brains have.

Further, what kind of monstrous stupidity would be required for such an occurrence as you suggest to occur?

The French have done nothing more than what thousands upon thousands of Americans have already done, which is to suggest that war should be the absolute final option, when all else fails.

Perhaps, while we're at it, we should bomb the homes of peace protesters, to continue the distressingly flawed logic of your suggestion? After all, aren't they getting in America's way, too?

This would presume that I was one of the protesters, which I was not. Or perhaps, in this silly, misguided sense of "patriotism," thought crimes (yes, I think this "war" is silly) are on the list.

My suggestion is always, always, "think before you type." It assuredly holds in this instance.

It seems you have failed to grasp the sarcasm of this post. We are obviously discussing this in a forum where people will make rude or lude comments in every post and thread. In an effort to take the brash edge off of the war I thought posting a little humor to discuss such an event would be fun to pick at. You obviously have missed the point and will not be asked for any further information on this subject.

Nonsense. In a space filled with the idiocy of misguided patriotism, I would aver that the elusive sarcasm is indeed difficult, if not impossible to detect. Further, there have been cases where in the face of someone pointing out how silly a supposition has been, the "sarcasm" flag has been flown.

Sarcasm is quite simple to detect in actual, person to person conversation, but significantly less so in e-mail or message board format. Many on this board identify sarcasm by use of the "rolleyes," or "laughing" icon. These are rather effective.

Do you really think the US would blow up the French Embassy? Is there even a French embassy in Bagdad? How long did it take you to figure out this was sarcasm?

Do I believe US intel can be that bad? Yes. I've actually worked in the Intel field and worked at the National Security Agency so I've had a first hand look at how things work. Especially with a nonexistant interaction between their own departments. Because of that whole need to know thing unless somebody above you sends out tasking requiring you to verify something the office who might actually have the data won't hand it over for you to verify. Not to mention that with the information overload that has been building in the processing departments at the intelligence agencies it could be two years before somebody actually reviews a tape or file. Its all in the priority of the tasking and the funds put forth to work on it. Thats what 6 years in the Intel field taught me.

CNN is reporting there are many Canadians that have been suppressed by the ruling French there, most notably Quebec.

Quebec has been stockpiling massive amounts of precursor chemicals used in the production of Fench fries.

A pre-emptive strike may be warranted...

You know all this anti-French crap was cute for the moment but get over it. The French are not our enemies. History may well prove they were right. And we were to arrogant to listen. This is not a black and white issue, just because the did not agree doesnt make them bad. There is not a doubt in my mind if we called for French aid AFTER someone attacked us they would be there.

Perspective. We are currently defying the UN and breaking international law, and yet the French are "bad." Interesting take on things.

Well put, subysouth, even if people like you, with sentiments like that, are un-American. (note indicators of sarcasm to follow)

And The Enemy, the question isn't whether the U.S. would bomb any French embassy. The question is the thread suggesting it, and the tone contained therein.

Look...I give up. You win.
