Default Just got my clutch replaced with an 03 WRX clutch, but I have questions

Today I got my car back from the dealer after having my 02 WRX clutch replaced with an 03 WRX clutch. The reason I got it replaced was because it was chattering like crazzy when its cold.
As soon as I got in to my car, the clutch is almost effortless to press.....more like feather feel clutch to press (unlike the 02 clutch) .. is this how the 03 clutch feels like?
So the clutch grip but I can still hear tiny bit of chattering if I dont apply enough gas, is this normal for 2003 clutch?

Overall I had 50 miles worth of driving with it today, and it seems flawless, but I want to make sure it wont chatter again since my warranty is almost done.

I almost forgot, check engine light came on do they have to take out exhaust components when they replace the clutch? If so its probably my o2 sensor got loose underneath.

from what i recall, there was a minor parts change in the clutch and/or flywheel in the 02 impreza wrx. the change being to a lighter feeling clutch.

i have the "heavy" clutch (02 wrx) and i was wondering myself why some of the other wrx's i had driven felt feather light in comparison, clutch feel wise, and thats what i was told.

anyways, maybe that helps.

yes you are absolutely correct, the feel is feather light, I was almost surprised when I jumped in to my car.
They told me they only replaced the clutch, but not the flywheel

Every manual car that I have ever driven does this if you don't give it enough gas.

The true clutch shudder fix means a heavier flywheel....you sure they just gave you the clutch?

yes, thats what they told me. The dealer said that they will not replace flywheel after 25k miles.. so no flywheel for me.

hummmm...with a light clutch, dont you kinda loose the feeling
of a real sports sedan?

my protoge5's clutch is super light compared to the WRX.
its really easy to shift on that car, but at the same time the
light weight clutch makes it feel like im slipping every engagement
even though im not.

Kenchan - thats what I felt at first, but today after driving around in town, I'd rather take this clutch than my old shuddering clutch. It grips so well especially in first gear and I like that

Default Just had mine done too

I just had mine changed a week ago and they "supposedly" changed the flywheel, pressure plate, and disk. It felt heavy and stuttered from the first moment (warm and cold!) I took it back and they replaced it again during the week, and now it feels light. It seems to stutter slightly but is 99% better than the violent shaking the original one did when cold.

Just a quick update after 1 week of driving.

The clutch still "slightly" shudder in reverse. First gear is perfect, still grips like a mofo. I am not going to complain anymore, I think I can let myself sit through shuddering reverse gear, just not first gear. Then I figured out the technician might hit something on the bottom of my door since the paint is chipped

Yes, the 03 clutch is lighter than the 02.. I immediately noticed this jumping into my friends 03 from my 02 during a test drive in his car. I especially noticed how smoother his synchros were in the tranny over the 02 as well.
