JDM EJ20 Maintenece Questions

Been throwing around the idea of getting a JDM STi 7 motor since I recently found out that the USDM EJ20 doesn't have an EGR for smog equipment. Also, any other unforseen hurdles i'll run into smog-wise besides the EGR and the 50 zillion cats on the car?

Now my question IS: What do I do when it comes to general maintenece and tune ups. Do parts from the USDM EJ20 work with the JDM EJ20? I know there are differnt variation of the motor, and was curious how I would keep up the maintence. Also, could I run the 91 octane here without blowing my $3k motor up?

Any info at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys/gals.
