million times?... Current WRX (STi) platform is already design to pass US safety requirements... so if the WRX weighs around 3000lbs... I hoping not much more for the STi.. The extra 0.5 liter should also save some weight.. ![]() |

Here's a link to the Subaru Canada site. It's got a high tech interface. Slick.
http://www.wrx-sti.ca/ I couldn't find specs though. Russ |

3272 (weight from Canadian pdf) - 3085 (WRX weight from subaru's web site) = 187 pounds.
That's not that much more weight. If you add up the big stuff like the 6 speed MT and bigger brakes, that probably consumes most of the 187 pounds. Then there are little things like bigger inter-cooller, gigantic wing ... That sounds just about right. I wish it would be around 3085 also. It's a pretty tall order when you're adding big stuff unless you go really high tech. Hopefully we'll be pleasantly suprised by Subaru when they announce the weight for the USDM. If not, for me, 3272 is still a very acceptable weight. I don't race, my ride will probably only see a couple of lapping sessions/year and some spirited canyon driving. |

http://www.subaru.co.jp/impreza/sedan/09/index.html it has the same 6 speed (I believe), same omitted radio, same intercooler...same giant wing... and weighs 1440 kg or 3175 lbs... (Although I'm wondering if this is dry weight or curb weight...??) http://www.subaru.co.jp/impreza/sedan/09/09_02.html The difference should be that USDM gets 2.5 liters (lighter than JDM) and different turbo (not sure about the weight)??? Anyways.. I hope to be surprised by subaru as well... ![]() BTW, here's the translation of the japanese pages... 1st: http://babelfish.altavista.com/babel...p=ja_en&tt=url 2nd: http://babelfish.altavista.com/babel...p=ja_en&tt=url |

I would imagine the brakes would be lighter. My massive Stoptech Big Brake Kit is lighter than the stock setup (Aluminum instead of cast iron calipers, Aluminum rotor top hats)

91 is the MIN AKI.
What do y'all think it will make on 91, 285? Of course until we get the US specs we won't know for sure. I'd be surprised if the EVO made 271 on 91 either. Glenn PS the 6MT+DCCD probably accounts for a lot of the weight difference. |

Well ... here 93 is very hard to find... is it complicated to boost the octane with octane booster ? like 91-92 to 93-94 ? Do I need a lot of booster to do it? Some1 know the price of a can of booster?

Boost juice is expensive and only adds tenths of points of octane. I add two gallons of 114 octane toluene to each 10 gallon fill up of 91 octane gas ... giving me 94.8 octane. I believe this does give me a bit more punch ... and seems to have smoothed out my torque curve. The head mechanic at the garage that put on my exhaust said that my WRX seemed a bit stronger then other ones with similiar mods.
My local ICI Paint store ... big chain ... sells me a gallon of toluene for $5.84 ... 100 octane "racing" fuel is going for $5.85/gallon here is the Los Angeles area. I've opened up an account with them ... and can get that deal at any ICI store ... using the card they sent me. |

1484kg?? That's a fat car . . . just as bad as the Evo8
Maybe that's why Subaru took so long to release the figures. ![]() The Evo makes a lot more power when using 100 octane gas as compared to 92 octane gas. There wont be much difference between 93 and 91 octane though. Hmm, at 1484kg for the STi, the Evo with much nicer seats and slightly cheaper price is beginning to look more appealing . . . |

"Nicer seats and slightly lower price"
If the seats are what's important to you, than by all means go for the EVO (or Taurus or something ).Just kidding around - don't forget that most Subaru dealers won't be selling above MSRP, whereas it seems most EVOs are going for thousands above MSRP, basically evening out the price. The STi gets a 6 speed, a much more advanced all wheel drive system, weighs less, nicer interior, a gas tank larger than a milk jug, and oh yeah, a lot more power. The EVO gets Recaros, and.... that's about it. |

The DCCD is a big differentiator, at least for the people that care about it.
