Default greddy evo exaust review

just installed this catback. the piping is 3.1X" in diameter and the muffler is pretty big and shiney. took about an hour to install, 4-5 bolts total.

the only problem i had was that the holes in the flange on the greddy that mates up to the oem cat were not big enough to accept the spring bolts. i had to get some longer, skinny bolts and washers to make up the difference, or you could drill out that flange. everything else fit great, nothing hit anywhere and i haven't heard any clunking or anything hitting.

the tip is huge and the tip sticks out a bit from the bumper(maybe 1/4"), it is not set in like most. not sure i like it this way, but there is not much i can do. i make it sound worse than it is, it's barely noticable. the muffler also come out straight from the bottom of the car, not on an angle like the hks or blitz nur. 80% of the muffler is tucked up under the car, so really the only thing you see is the tip, the bottom of the muffler, and the piping.

the performance gain was noticable, i would say 5-10 hp is accurate. nothing overwhelming but i could def. feel a difference. the sound is PERFECT for me. very low rumble/bluh bluh bluh sound at idle. at wot the difference is noticable to anyone who drives the car daiy, but my girlfriend couldn't tell the difference at all. nice and subtle, a nice low growl with a new emphasis on the unique engine sound. some might be dissapointed because it is not very loud, which is why i bought it.

all in all, worth the $500 spent. looks great, sounds perfect and gives a performance gain. to be perfect, it would be set at a *slight* angle, flush or set back from the bumper, and about 2db louder, but i'm nit-picking

i'll try to get some pics.

Did you notice that the exhaust hanger on the left pulls to the right a little? I thought it would be more straight, I just installed mine today.

i think the piping is regular steel.

i didn't have any fitment problems other than the flange that bolts to the factory cat. did you guys have this problem too? my bolts wouldn't fit?

I've got the Greddy EVO on my 2.5 and I must say that it is really nice. It has a nice deep sound that is not too loud, my intake is much louder than my exhuast. The muffler looks great too. My piping is 304 stainless... I believe. I've had for about a year now with no rust on the piping.

Had my Greddy Evo on for about two months now, I like it alot. The only complaints that I have are it bounces around under the car and hits something, I think it is the size of the tubing and not at a angle like alot of the other exhuast on the market. I put on 4 Kartboy exhuast hangers and no more bouncing, I do get some rattles someimes when I'm starting the car but it is only when you are turning the ignition over. Also the tip of the muffler is a little too big for my taste, but the muffler sounds great not too loud but still has alittl punch, the exhuast note when you are idleing and reving the engine is really nice. I had a Tanabe Racing Med. last year and went catless, it was nice, but way too loud, Espeacially highway driving, when you get to point b, your body is still vibrating, I sold the Tanabe catback, stayed catless and put on the Oem catback, it felt really good, the car rumbled at idle and when you floor it is nice quiet power. The only reason I bought another catback, is I'm going stage 4 fmic with headers and the Utec so I thought I need the the flow.

All in all it is a really quality muffler. If you don't want alot of noise, get some exhuast hangers and don't mind the big ass exhuast tip.

i got some rattling too. it was a) the heat shield (easy fix) and b) the right exaust hanger on the muffler. some silicone tubing wrapped around that hanger will fix it.

Isn't the piping size for the rs catback 60-70mm which would be 2.36-2.75inches and not 3.1+inches? Or did you buy the 80mm(3.1+) WRX cat back and mod the hangars to work? I have heard of people using wrx cat backs on their rs's but didn't know how the fit would be.

Hmmm I'm looking at either a Greddy catback or a Prodrive catback. Anyone of you guys driven and can compare them?

I like my Greddy EVO - needed Kartboy hangers to straighten it and keep it quiet though. If somebody will buy my WRX, then I can put the new Greddy Ti on a new STi...
