Default any '03 RS sedans in lower mainland

I test drove a 03 rex wagon yesterday and was pretty stoked about it however I'm actually looking for a 2.5RS sedan as it's a little more affordable. the richmond dealer didn't have any RS sedans (MT) and I haven't had time to call the other dealers... any of you know of any around??

I think I may just be better off waiting for the 2004 model. I couldn't get a definitive date for their arrivals... anyone know when they are due to arrive??

Darnit!! I was gonna get me a new subie last fall but I've been too busy working long freakin hours and now they're all gone!!

I'd wait for the '04's. I prefer how they look.
Try Specialty in NV. I think I saw an RS there.

03 RS' were sucky to wait for.

It took dcgear about a month to get his..took me around two months for mine. I say wait for the 04 because of the re-sale value and the face lift.

Richmond Subaru is trying to sell their 2002's still!! Try buggin Don Docksteader if you really want a 2003.

I think I'll just wait for the 2004... what is the difference in looks b/w the 03 and 04? I'm assuming the car on the subaru canada website is the '04?

Guess I'm gonna call Don Dock... or specialty and see when I could get into an 04.

thanks for the help ppl... i'll have lots of questions for you guys in once I actually get into my new ride!

Wait for the 04' RS, TS, Outback sport instead.

I'd get a 04 OBS, because this year they've upgraded to rear disks instead of drum brakes...

My girlfriend's jealous since she has the 02 1/2

there are 02, 02.5, and 03s right now... there are a slight difference in the door area for the 02.5 compared to the 02, the door lock button reads lock in her car, my 02 RS does not have that

To see how the OBS, TS, and RS will look like, check out this website

yeah i waited a while for my RS, but id wait for the 04's if i were you.
if u do decide to get an 03, consider the 03 TS special edition, i think it looks pretty nice with the body kit.

Used 2002 WRXs are in the price range of a new 2.5RS, maybe even cheaper when you factor in the tax and miscellaneous fee savings.

The issue of course, is reliability, especially with a high performance car. But if you buy from someone who seems trustworthy, and who has records which shows all maintenance has been done right and on time, and you have a good mechanical inspection, you should be fine.

Default WRX vs. RS Sedan modified?

hey thanks for all the replies... looks like it's gonna be an 04... definitely like the sunroof option (hopefully it's not just the WRX option??)

My concern is just the financing part... I wanna lease just to reduce the payts versus buying... I know it's a poor short term solution to my cash problems (currently paying $540/mo (bank financing) for a car I don't want to drive anymore - 2000 Acura 1.6EL)

Would I be able to get a lease on an 02 WRX from a dealer??

I'm still debating on getting an RS Sedan and modifying slightly (chip, header, exhaust, cat, cam, tires, springs, steel brake lines) or just getting the REX and leaving it as is.

I think it would be more fun to modify in order to have something a little original - even if it's not as fast???

Your input is greatly appreciated...

Think warranty. Chip violates your warranty I do believe.

Everything I'm doing on my car isn't gonig to violate warranty..intake, cosmetics..etc...but once my warranty is over, I'm going to do a few things with it.

With a WRX you'll be tempted to modify it anyways I think...but at least you get a warranty on a turbo car..

Default Re: WRX vs. RS Sedan modified?

Let me get this straight:

1. You still owe money on your current car.
2. You're having cash problems with $540/mo on your current car.

Sorry to break it to you, but you probably shouldn't be looking at another car. The only way I see you affording the new car is if:

1. You can sell your current car privately. Trading it in will mean you're paying for 2 cars at once. Besides I doubt the bank would allow you to do trade it in before getting their money back.
2. You have extra cash you can access

But in case you still really want the new car regardless of cost, here's some more info for ya.

For leasing or financing, you'll probably find lower rates for new '03s than used '02s, simply because Subaru of Canada is subsidizing the sale of new cars.

A 36 month lease on a $26,000 vehicle will run you about $250/ month with no down payment, 3.9% (0.00163 money factor), and 57% residual. (NOTE: for exact leasing numbers, you'll have to talk to a dealer)

A 36 month financing on the same vehicle will be $830.

The 3.9% will probably only apply to '03 cars, so expect ~6.5% for '04, which translates to a lease of $300/mo and $860 finance.

HTH,

Jim

I guess my real question was how do trade-ins work...

would the dealer pay off the rest of my bank loan for my current car as part of the trade-in and then lease me the new car?? or am I dreaming??

I only owe 15k on my car so privately I should get enough to cover it... similar cars are listed for 16.5k to 17.5k.

Any help would be appreciated - I've got till May or so before the new cars come out - so I've got time to sell my car privately while I wait.

once again... your feedback is appreciated!!

Best thing is to go to Don Docksteader and ask them what they would do to help you buy one of their cars.

Are you set on a sedan? If not, look at the '03 2.5TS's they still have there. I'd bet that DD would be willing to bend over backwards to help you in order to sell their stock (~10 TS's left!)
