I think this is SCCBC. Not the PDC ones. I want to attend one of these after I got my own car also. Earliest one I can go will be @ Pacific Raceway(SIR) but I don't think I will have my car that soon.

Jamie: I'm gonna get a civic or integra. Gotta see what is available in the market first. Anyway I will save up some more first and hope I can get one this fall. |

I think I was the only I-clubber there, although obviously not the only Subie. There was a blue sedan, and another blue sedan owned by one of the instructors, and sometime later in the day a silver WRX showed up as well.
There was a sweet S4 with six-pot 13.something" rotors up front, an M3, an SVT Mustang and . . .a Yugo! Spoonex4, you should have dropped by the paddock to say hi! The course was great! Ross Bentley gave the classroom session last weekend, but unfortunately he was not among the in-car instructors. Good thing I changed my brake pads and fluid - quite a few cars (Golf VR6, Integra Type-R, RSX . . .) had some severe fade and brake fluid boilage going on by the end of the day - my brakes held up fine. Now I have to see how much is left of my pads! After one of the track sessions, an older guy driving a Cooper S came up to me and said something along the lines of "How did you move up on me so fast? What's under the hood of that thing? Aren't Subarus supposed to be playing in the snow? Then he asked about the engine specs, and I guess he thought that I had added the turbo myself, 'cause the conversation went something like: "How much boost you running?" "14.7" "How much power do you think you've got?" "227." His eyes go wide ![]() Then the rain came. And I spun the car in turn 4. And thus the rain gods were appeased. And the sun came out ![]() I hope to have some video footage edited sometime later this week. 'Til then, check out the download from the heart-rate monitor I was wearing (ignoring the drops to 0, of course - must have been interference): ![]() |

I just brought mine for fun . . . BTW max heart rate from the runs was about twice my normal resting, or about what it would be from a slow jog.

Banman: So u had a lot of fun? Sorry that I didn't come up to say hi coz I didn't stay there for long, I left before the lunch time I think. And I have to work yesterday so I can't go to Mission again. I'm sure I missed the best part of the whole driving course.
My friend in the white ITR sure went through some brake fade problems. I'm not sure if my other friend in the silver civic hatchback have the same problem coz I haven't talk with him yet. Both of them are using OE brake rotors with "ran-in" performance pads & SS brake line etc. |

Orbiter,
$400 - One day (about 5 hrs) classroom time, two days (8:30-5:00 or 5:30) track time, broken up into sessions of about 15 minutes each. Instructor to student ratio was good (1:2); about fifty or sixty cars total, so the group was usually broken up into two or three groups for on-track events. If you're at all familiar with cars, physics, and racing, the classroom session isn' t that useful (except for clarification about flags). The track time is what is really golden. Although I'm curious, since all the instructors are volunteers, where they manage to spend the course fees - how much could it be costing them to get the track for two days? $400x60 people = $24,000! Either it costs a fortune to get the track time or this is a nice fundraiser for SCCBC. Also - a couple of mouthbreathers among the students, but for the most part fellow students were mature and helpful. Just a caution that I was warned by a reputable source that one of their instructors has a bad track record of wrecking peoples' cars. I can PM you his name if you want, but he wasn't teaching at this session anyway. And I would highly recommend getting good brake pads and better fluid; brake fade was a problem with a lot of the cars out there. |
