the kid from clubsi.com who got us the photos in the garage has driven one, but i doubt he took it above 3,000 rpm otherwise the SOA people would have owned him.
Nobody on this forum has driven a USDM one yet I dont think, at least not DRIVEN driven one, if ya know what I mean! ![]() |

FWIW,
I have probably 2000-3000 miles logged so far in a US Spec Car. - Does that count? ![]() I don't think Paul (Hansen) has been in one yet (USDM), but he'll correct me if that has changed - won't you Paul?!. FCTi |

My brother writes for an auto mag in Detroit and he got a chance to drive the USDM one about a month or a month and half ago. I really need to probe him for more details, but basically he told me it was a blast to drive (he's driven my stock '02 wagon for comparison) and that I should consider trading in my car for the STI. I will talk to him again this week and see if I can get anymore details from him

Unless the person has also driven other fast cars like the EVO or the JDM Sti, it will be hard to compare.

Here's a little (but it's not my job to say more):
1. It's better than you think it is going to be. World Class. NOT a redone WRX. Completely updated. 2. Pricewise comparisons of this car to the 350Z, G35, IS300, 330i, etc are misplaced from a performance standpoint. This is a FAR more extreme, dedicated performance car. Think E46M3, 911. Really. |

By 911 do you mean the current Carrera (C4)?

911 and the 996 are night and day IMO. After the 993 that was the droping off point...same for the 964.
The currrent C4 or even C4s is quite the car. The STi is in a different league. The STi will never have the feel of a 911, two totally different cars and two totally different ways to drive them. Hopefully the STi will have the raw unfettered feel of the true 911....ie no water pumpers. -Jeff nolift911@hotmail.com |

FCTi wasn't alluding that the STi feels like a 911 - more using that as a general sort of benchmark.
As in, the STi is going to be a supercar in all performance aspects. No, not in interior amenities, fit and finish and, most importantly, not in price. When you are looking at the STi, you are looking performance. Listen to the Evo owners right now, and you'll get a feel for it. Cheers, Paul Hansen |
