Default Modding a 2.2l

Hey I was wondering, I'm 18 and I want to get a Impreza with the 2.2L. The 2.2l came in the 1997 year, I want to know, is that engine good to mod? I dont want a 2.5l because its not enuff car for the price. My goal is to get 190hp to the wheels, is it possible?

Anything's possible.....but do you have the money to make it possible......that is the question.

If you take a look that most WRX's put down around that number to the wheels........that would mean you are aiming for around 220 something hp at the motor.

About the only way to do that "cheaply" and I do use that term very loosely is with a turbo kit. Most kits are around $3-5k

If you wanted to stay n/a.....well...let's not even go there because you'd be looking at 10k easy to build up the motor and associated parts.

I don't think You'll get close to 190whp. You can shoot for 190 hp at the crank. That should be reasonible.

I also have a 2.2L, nothing wrong with this little engine!

Slap on a 50hp shot of NOS. I think ZEX makes a kit for our cars, but its not 50 hp you could use at every stoplight. I agree with the others, a turbo kit is your best bet for making at least 190hp at the wheels and have it on tap for daily use.
