Default Weird Squeak and power loss

Driving along w/ the radio off the other day and Ive discovered my car has a squeak that happens at like 2000-2700 rpm- it sounds like its coming maybe from the engine or transmission- i really cant tell but when the squeak happens the RPMs sometimes drops and there seems to be a moment of hestitation. Anyone have an idea what the heck is going on?

Does the problem only occur when you have the A/C on?

If yes, ...

Check your A/C belt. The squeek could be a loose or worn belt. You feel a 'power loss' and see a drop in RPM because of the load created by A/C compressor switching on.

An accessory belt could be slipping. Try to twist each of the belts. If you can twist it more than 90 degrees, it may be a little loose. If you can twist it 180 degrees or more, it's definitely too loose. Have it adjusted.
