Default Question about STI

Hello, I would like to know if any one knows what the current euro STI's skid pad handling is (g's) and is the current US model going to have the same or better suspension than the euro STI? I drove me friends new EVO last night and was pretty impressd over all in the car. The mags claim that the EVO is .97'g in the skid pad stock. I'm on the list for the new US STI and can't wait till it's released.

Thanks

Personally.. I think the skidpad g number has a lot to do with
the tires than anything else...(same could said about the new
STi)....

Well, first off alot of the EVO's skidpad ratings is due to the tires. I'm not saying that the car doesnt handle well, but as JT said, the sticker the tires the better.

I think that the STi will be very close to that but I dont forsee it surpassing the evo in this dept. The tires are good, but not super, and Evo's have always been known for their insane lateral g pulling I'd say STI will be above .92 but below .97 if I had to guess, but thats just me i could be way off..

How was your evo experience? I hear it's damn quick!

you're saying the STi's tires are worse than the Evo's tiers? The new STi tires look like they're extremely track oriented, to me. I'm not predicting any numbers, but this car's skidpad number won't be low because of their tire choice.

I think the STi's tires are rated at 15,000 miles and the Evo's at 10,000 miles The STi definitely has sticky tires, but if memory serves the Evo's tires are even stickier.

The STi tires were just designed for this car and the NSX-R. Nobody really knows how they perform yet, but I would have to think that they would be at the top echelon of road course track tires to be put on those two cars. Until we get some experience with them, it would be hard to pick a stickier tire, since the manufacturers really have some leeway when they pick that tread wear rating number. Lots of people shred through 30k mile tires in 5k, but it's pretty easy to get 50-60k out of the same tires on the highway.

I don't think Subaru will be making the mistake of limiting their car's performance with the tires, like they did on the WRX, which had to mix performance with long wear and all season capability.

I will be surprised if I get 10,000 out of my first set of RE070s.

I am planning to either get another set of wheels/tires for street use or stock up on replacements.
