Default Dealer wants to charge $40,000 for STI...

I called a local dealer to find out about their allocation numbers and how much they are planning to charge for STi.

The guy (sales manager) told me their sister company that sales EVO, is asking $40,000,. Then he said for STi, the minimum would be $40,000.

I tell you guys right now, there is no way I'm paying that much markup on any car.

Isn't there anything Subaru can or should do against these greedy dealers. Many potential prospects WILL walk away from these cars and Subaru ends up loosing.

Could someone on the upper level tell SOA that there is a problem here already...

Thanks!

If enough people report them to SOA, they will do something about it.

If you dont like the price, dont buy it. Remember, salesmen dont make money off of having the car sitting on the showroom floor collecting dust for weeks on end.

That's right! You put a deposit down to get it at MSRP. This guy wants $40,000 for the car. You think people are going to dish out $40K for a Subaru?

Quite a while ago someone posted an idea which makes sense to me. Charge way over sticker for the car, they get to keep it on the show room floor for a couple/few weeks, gets people coming in, show it off a little, if someone pays that much than all the better, but if not that's ok, they got some free advertisement then sell it for MSRP. Otherwise they will never be able to keep a car around on the lot / in the show room to show off for a bit because no one wants their sold car being used as a used pair of underwear which everyone sits in, doddles around, puts finger prints on and wants to drive.

Just a thought which someone else came up with....
