Basically, they gotta cut the roof and left side off the car and replace the panels. Is it going to be as good as new like the shops say?

i had a '98 grand am gt that was crushed from the trunk to the passed the backseats and most stuff in the front was buckled.. they fixed it and it seemed fine to drive around town to school and stuff but it was never the same at high speed and made weird noises every once in a while. it was hit while it was parked btw.
dunno if this helps but... ![]() |

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that there's no structural damage, just a lot of dents from hail.

What shop did you bring it to? My brother works at Amwell auto body in Hillsboro. He says they got alot of people coming in with hail damage.
I know that for me, unless my bro did the work, I would feel like my car was just not right. ![]() |

PhillyWRX, what do you mean by it feels weird?
Mike, who's your bro? I haven't brought it to any shop yet, the insurance company just looked at it yesterday and they'll cut me a check tomorrow, hopefully. |

Have you tried Dentwizards? Maybe they can remove the dents without having to go through all the hassle of replacing and repainting body panels.

If they're cutting the roof, just make it a convertible, and sell to some princess.
You'd have the only one ever made (at least I've never seen one) |

carbon fiber wouldn't dent
and definitely get a sunroof put in if they are working on the roof. or chop the top and go bling! The car is no longer showroom condition and if any of the dent repairs show up in a future carfax (i'm not positive), the resale value in slashed anyway. wonder if anyone can photoshop it for u? |

yea. since theres nothing to straighten, i think it will be fine. the troubles come when chassis have to be pulled and that. but urs is all pannel dammage. itll be good as new (i think) once they fix it.
i think the more important question is hows the s2000? she didnt get hurt in the hail storm did she? -tbg.....a honda fan at heart |

I had the S2k in Newark at the time, and the hailstorm melted by the time it got there.
![]() But I kinda wish it got hit in the hailstorm over the Acura since it's a lease and I have a lower deductible on it. Plus it's hard to dent the convertible top. ![]() |

My ride is fine (I think) after they had to bend and make that square shape on the bumper beam to get it back into place. I haven't pushed my car becuase it still needs and alignment and new tires. I just drove it for about 3 miles in my town. But I can't wait till I can drive it again

You should definitely have Dent Wizard/Dent Doctor look at it and give you a second opinion before allowing the body shop to proceed. That seems like a very radical fix even for this amount of dents. I have Chris the local Dent Dr.'s card here and it says "Hail Damage" on it so they are able to do this kind of work.
