cierex posted the specs sheet in the General Community forum several days ago. You do need to squint your eyes to see anything, though. But it does clearly state that the weight of the STi is 3263, the same exact weight of the EVO without the sunroof. Hopefully srad711 has a slightly bigger scan of his catalog.

I remember reading 'somewhere` 154mph electronically governed, but it may have been the Euro version.

The Sti will be close to 3300 lbs with speakers/stereo. I guess it's the fat pig, not the Evo. I have a feeling the Evo and Sti performance #'s will be VERY close.

You mean quicker? I think the Evo has a little higher top speed. The two will probably be within 2 tenths in the 1/4 (edge to the Sti)..so really it'll be a drivers race. My bet is that the Evo will have higher skidpad/slalom #'s.
Seems a little strange the weight is identical...even though Sti will be heavier when radio is added. My guess is the #'s are a little skewed so that it wouldn't be heavier than US Evo. I'd be willing to bet that if you took an Evo and an Sti and put them on the scale that the Sti will actually be heavier.

I think the STI has a larger gas tank, which could account for some extra weight. Curb weight is measured with full fluids.
A stereo system would probably weigh about 15 lbs + wiring (supposedly already there).
The weight is nothing to fret about. If it feels anything like the Evo, the car will feel lighter than it is.

Much in the same way as Mitsubishi pulled a fast one on USDM Evo owners by overstating the Horsepower figures?

On 91 octane, the USDM EVO makes only 20 wheel horsepower more than a USDM WRX! You need 93 octane and even then, the difference is only 28 whp! Oh and what does Mitsubishi do to make up for the lackluster HP. Why, of course, they produce a few "Ringer" cars so the magazine road tests can fool the potential owners into believing the 271bhp claim.

Subaru's 2.5l engine has enough "BALLS" that they don't need to resort to such shady tactics in order to sell cars.

I believe he was refering to the Evolution's gas tank, which is smaller than the Impreza's.

Yes I was thinking that the Evo has a smaller gas tank than the STI. Curb weight is when both tanks are full, making the STI heavier because it has an extra gallon of gas (or whatever the difference is). Probably only like an 8 lb difference though.
I guess it will come down to, whoever is the lighter driver, will have the lighter car.

Nope the Evo's tank size is over 14 gal. now.
If you would take the time to re-read what Shiv did wron in those dyno tests you would KNOW that his results were incorrect because the Evo requires different ramp-up setting etc., than a WRx which he didn't do. He got 188hp with the Evo..someone else with several production cars got 220awhp on the EXACT same type of dyno.. (Dyno Dynamics). Several other tuners such as Bushur have dyoed them and say they are UNDER-rated...that they are making more like 290-305 crank hp. It's funny how everyone on this board wants to report the lowest #'s ever given, even if they are incorrect. Also, stock Evos are putting out over 240hp on awd dynojet dynos. I have driven Wrx and now own an Evo..no comparison. If you don't believe me go take a spin in one for a day or so.

Of course there's no comparison between an Evo and a stock WRX, they're not meant to be compared they're in different leagues.. I think most people on this board are aware of this.

The STI is another story though..

Did Shiv ever retest whith the new ramp rate? What was the end result if he did? It would be interesting to know the new results. He did post somewhere that with higher octain he was able to achieve what he deemed to be in line with 271 crank hp. I hope the STi does not suffer the same performance results due to the low octain water found here in CA. But that might be too much to expect.

As far as the weight is concern, I'm a little disapointed but not suprised. It's about right, considering the 6 speed and other goodies. You can't add heavier components and expect the end results to be a lighter vehicle. I hope that it will handel like the Mitsu people are reporting about their EVO. Lots of them are stating that the car fells alot lighter than they really are. The only thing left in terms of comparason is for the STi to hit the ground. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh please please please please, oh please hurry up Subaru, you're killing me with the waiting. Ohhhhh god the agony, the pain, the boardom. Ohhhhh please hurry up. Phew I feel better now.
