Default STi great, But EVO way more comfortable

I have been waiting for the STi or EVO for some time. I haven't sat in the STi yet, but have sat in the 04 WRX. Seats are same in new WRX as STi, at least shape and size. Have to say, the EVO seats are way more supportive, more comfortable, larger in the seat area front to back i.e. giving much needed thigh support for long legged drivers.

Afraid I am leaning towards the EVO.

Would you really chose and EVO over an STI just because of the seats? Seems to me things like 300hp and DCCD are just a little bit more important.....whatever floats your boat.

ROFLMAO....

My suggestion to you is to consider that the STi seats are not the same as the 04. They are more supportive but are looser fit than the JDM STi seats (which you can "adjust" the bolstering with alittle tweaking). The Recaro's in the Evo are the best thing about that whole interior. My GVR4 has better interior build and quality and it's almost 13 years old.
If you really don't like the seats in the STi I suggest you get your self a set of recaro's for @$800-1000 with brackets and sell your seats to someone with a regular WRX as I'm sure they will pay enough to offset most of the cost.

what's irritating about this post is the title implys that there is some factual information but you get here and its retarded speculation based on a fallacious assumption.

Seats, sheesh! What good are seats in a car that will most likely end up into a guardrail after the first rain. With that "go-kart" steering a puddle to the right will pull the EVO into a DEVO condition. Seats, indeed...

The current WRX seats are superb, especially for a daily driver. It looks like the USDM STI seats are a variation of the same. At the same time I still like the Recaros better - but seats can always be exchanged, whereas the other hardware cannot.

Lehigh Valley, PA? What dealership are you buying your STI from?

The USDM WRX and USDM STi seats are not identical.

Can't believe you're picking the one that is more comfortable...

I personally think that both STi and EVO's seat suck... both are
widen for the US release (read not as supportive)...

You could always replace the STi seats with these:

They are very supportive and comfortable.
I know where they can be had for a reasonable price as well!

The US STi seats are a little wider and less "buckety" to accomodate American's larger asses.

The seats are from Top Speed Auto. I don't have any larger pics.

I thought that was the difference between the JDM STi seats and USDM STi seats. Are you saying the the USDM STi seats wider than the USDM WRX seats?

I have sat in the EVO VIII's driver seat. They are indeed much more supportive than the WRX's seat. That is just sitting there in the show room. They would not let me test drive it, bastards. That is not to say that the WRX's seat are not nice. I like them just fine. If they trun out to be just like the WRX, that's ok. I just hope the STi's seat are about the same as the EVO. That will be just another nice improvement. The seats are not going to sway me one way or the other. If they turn out to be slip and slide for my size ass, then out they will go.

I know some of you have sat in the USDM STi at some of the auto show. Please speak up. What did you think in comparason to WRX? Have you (those that have sat in the USDM STi) also sat in the EVO? What did you think in comparason?

ha-evolution, those seats are indeed very nice looking. I have never looked into aftermarket buckets. Do they fit the tracks that come with the WRX or will they come with their own tracks? Are they adjustable front to back?

I was referring to the USDM vs JDM seats, I must've misread your post.

ha-evolution, are those seats height adjustable, and do they accomodate side air bags?

Height adjustable - ? I guess it would depend on whether it would bolt up to the Subaru rails, of which I'm not sure. I have seen them in person and sat in them in a showroom, but don't know much more about them.

Side Air bags - ? Not sure again. Aren't most side airbags built into the seat? If that's the case - it's a definate no.

Glenn can you answer about the difference between the STi and WRX MY04 seats.

To be honest I looked at them very closely at the Detroit show and they did look identical to me as well except for the fabric.

I have to say that the new seats are very ugly, I prefer the 01-02 JDM seats if I had a choice.

Well not everyone is a stupid little punk who wants to trick his car out with all sorts of bull. I want a fun fast car that I can drive everyday and don't want to have to change the seats etc. Enjoy the STI as I know it will be awesome. next time don't get personal in your responses.
