I am first on my dealer's list and he just called to say that the price has been announced for the STi. It will start at $30,995 plus freight (est. $525). It is anticipated that my car will be here at the end of May.

If that price is true, it's just another slap in the face to Mitsubishi. 2 grand more will get you a front lsd, mechanical/active diffs, 6 speed, larger more powerful engine, etc, etc. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

I called my dealer and they haven't gotten word on the official price yet...must be the time zone difference.

$31,524. The wife will be very happy. I had her barced for 34K. Maybe I can talk her into letting me spend the extra 2500 on stereo/mods.

Wow, if this is true then its time for this poor college graduate student to start saving. Subaru should use me in one of their commercials, I will get an STi by any means necessary; including but not limited to: blood plasma donations, sperm donation, drug studies, and ebay sales of everything I own and don't need

The end of the month of May will give me plenty of time to "de-mod" my current car and reaplce any interior panels/visors that are damaged with junkyard replacements. Hopefully I can get $18,000 off of MSRP on my current 2002 WRX with 24,000 miles.

6-speed, DCCD, brembo, and 300/300 here I come!

Hey what the hell happened to this post? I mean this is probably one of the most significant revelations in our STI saga and I am just posting a big huge *BUMP* to gather more interest in this post. I would really like Rickard to post again and tell us which dealership gave him the info about the price...and has anyone else heard about this at all???

I too sure hope that you are right-- if the Canadian STi costs the same % over the WRX that it does in the U.S., then it would come in for less than $44,000 CAD. And if the HID's are worth more than the stereo + pass-through + seat heater, it could be cheaper! That is pretty awesome-- and I think a good move for Subaru. The cheapest 350Z we can get here starts at $44,900 (although that is a pretty loaded base :-) ): coming in $1000 less than that should sway a lot of buyers...

I've watched this forum for months now! If this is official price $30,995 and gets confirmed in the next few weeks.....I'm one happy camper and a player.

Also, those STI's sitting in the parking garage in CA, have been dancin in my head every night since I saw the pictures!

Based upon my experience with early press vehicles(another company)... the STI "tide" is starting to roll! The press(rags) should have articles with actual driving impressions real soon.

I challenge every member to walk, ride, sleep with a camera ready as the "sightings" will increase in frequency!

Above is a copy of an e-mail that Rickard(threadstarter) sent me today. I once again thank him for his prompt reply and I really hope that Huebner Subaru aren't pulling our leg.

Today I was determined to get some closure on this matter and I started my investigation by calling Huebner Subaru. First of all I talked to a guy that seemed to have no clue that Subaru was realsing a car called STI(not surpized at all,

) so he forworded me to another guy who seemed pretty knowledgable. I asked him about the price and he confirmed that he had told Rickard on Friday about the price that is stated in the beggining of this forum. The guy also told me that the district sales manager for that area had realesed the price on the same day, so "it is official" he told me and he was pretty reassuring. Just to make sure, I called SOA a few minutes later and they told me that they are expecting to realese the price at the end of APRIL. So I bled my heart out to the guy and told him about my saga...but he said that that was all the info he had. So in a final act of despiration I wrote them an e-mail explaining the whole situation and I am waiting for their reply...

what did you say?
Obsess much...nah...only because price is my only barrier...

Thanx RSX2STi for some investigation into this matter....as you already said the Price is what will driveme to sell me 02 WRX and get into the STI......I called MASTRO Subaru a few minutes ago and tlake to Sales manager (one of the only Subarus dealers in florida taking a 100% refundable deposit for Sti) and he tld me that the big wigs fro SOA where there last week and did not say anything about pricing for STi... I hope what Richards Dealer said is true because if it is I WILL BE IN AN STi .....

Guys keep researching and posting......

I called the Southeast Regional Rep. this morning after seeing this. Apparently, someone, either the guy at the dealership, or the rep he talked to has spoken out of turn. The price has NOT been officially announced yet. If I were you guys I would get someone at the dealership to put on company letterhead that you are getting to buy your STi's at $30995 + $525 destination, have the general manager or dealer sign it, and then sit back and wait. Chances are you will be in a phenominal price point when the cars get there.
