So what do you guys think .. is my MAF shot.. i dunno .. gimme your expertice.. thanks .. -Paul

Call the dealer (don't drive yet) and ask them to check your VIN under the MAF recall. If it hasn't been done on your car yet, great, free replacement. Otherwise, hopefully you have under 60,000 miles, in which case, great, you still get a free replacement. If neither of these conditions are met, then you get to pay for it yourself.

the recall MAF should carry a 1 year 12,000 mile part warranty. Call the dealer that put it in and tell them you think it went bad and ask them what the parts warranty on the maf is.

Don't let him sell you the whole $300 assembly either. All you need is the sensor and it's about $45 if you have to pay for it.

Nope, just the 99s, not the 98s.

Don't feel bad-- I just paid $335 for a remanufactured MAF for my 97 L. I'm still punching myself.

99's are Phase II blocks (execpt for the very first few)... 98's are Phase I. IIRC 99 Legacies were still phase I.
