Default Q for those who've used Jaime alarm guy

I've set up an appointment with Jaime, the alarm guy, to install a security system in the new WRX.

Just wanted to see who else has used him and if they wanted to share their experience, good and bad.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Jim

I went to him as well. His shop is very neat and clean which also shows on his installs. It's very tidy.

Oh, don't forget to ask about the trunk popper, it's pretty cool! I'm getting mine done after my carpets.

I would highly recommend him and would go back there myself.

Be prepared to wait a few weeks. He's always booked up. He's also an authorized dealer for Alpine. He used to work for a store but now goes to school but still does installs to pay for it. He's crazy good.

Good guy, but wasn't impressed with the alarm system and installment from his fellow employees. I had to return to his store 3 times before my alarm was fuctioning properly. His employees broke my interior panels and deny breaking them. Jamie actually acused me for gluing back the panels together since their rookie installers tried a lousy attempt to fix them with glue. I would recommend people there, but this hype about his business is not exactly as what I expected.

damn... this is exactly the sort of thing i wanted to avoid. i just fixed one disaster and i don't want to repeat it again

oh well... good thing i asked. i would have been sucked into the hype as well.

the search continues...

Well, I guess most of my experiences was when jamie was a one man shop, back when he was still in his garage. My good words here are for Jamie himself, and his workmanship, and not for the rest of his employees since I really didn't have any experience in his new shop. Remember, this thread is about Jamie, the alarm guy, not SoundWorks (his new shop).

Cheers;
Peter

i will have to try and call him later. i am doubtful, but i can only try and ask if he personally can do the work. if not, i'll keep looking elsewhere.

I was very impressed with his work, I had done some prior dd on him and the compustar alarm/install, he had no probs settin it up the way i requested. would deffinatly recommed Jamie do your install. I drove 3 hrs to get the work done an will return for any future installs/concerns. Approx 3 weeks after the install, my "knock to page" sensor was falsing, he replaced no questions. Very clean install, an went over the work with me before he buttoned the car up. Nothin but good things to say.

i had been looking for another electrical (alarm and stereo) installer after my friend left for Toronto and i had to go back twice just for some very simple works and even though he is a nice guy to deal w/...he didn't solve my problem...

so i have a diff one who has fixed what i needed and take care all my electrical (alarm and stereo) works

also...my sis's bf got his alarm and stereo installed by him...not very impressed when i figured that he wasn't even told how to remove the deck (for some reason it's "sticking" w/ the trims on the dash) and alarm has quited a few times in the last two years or so...everytime he has to take back to "reset" it and it seems like a "magic" that it works right after...

personally i dunno if that's the alarm or installer or user...as users always blame installer...installer always blame user...haha

He's a great guy and provides awesome customer service after the sale. My Compustar wouldnt work afterwards and I called him on a holiday and he went step by step on how to re-program the alarm and called me the next day to see if it was still working. Awesome guy and I've sent over 7 people to him for installs.

However, when I had my Alpine system installed by him, he said 6.5" front components won't fit on an Impreza. And its true because its suposed to be 5.25" but he said he couldnt do it. But any installer can just make spacers and fit it...don't know why he didn't, but I sent my system to another shop. But I'd rather him tell me he can't do it rather than try and do it and break something.

Default Compustar Install No Problems

Jamie's a good straight-forward guy and I'm lucky that he personally worked on my Compustar install...6 months and no problems yet. Anyone get speakers installed by him? While I have no doubts to his skill, I'm just curious...
