Default stock acceleration numbers

I would just like to know about where I'm starting. I can't find a recent article on anything other than a WRX. I just bought (yesterday) an 03 OBS stick, and while it feels faster than my Focus, I'd like to know by how much. Anybody have any stock test numbers?

..the 0-60 #'s for the RS are low 8sec. times, I'd assume the OBS is very similar. That's with the engine bogging down on the launch; I wonder if they are faster in the wet from the little amount of wheel spin keeping the revs up a tad(?)

and if anyone knows 5-60mph (rolling start) times for either the RS or OBS, I'd love to see them!

Bogging? Good gosh, my car is still a virgin so I'm easy on her (not even hitting 4k rpm), but on a spirited launch I don't notice any boggin at all. I'll even kick up the odd rock or piece gravel. I'm not dumping the clutch or anything.

Car and Driver tested 02 in a comparison and got 7.8 second 0-60, and I believe SCC tested the same care and it was like 8.2 seconds 0-60. I also had a Focus before this car, and I think the Subaru is faster off the line. About the best I did with the Focus on on gtech was 8 second 0-60 and the best I've done with the Subaru was 6.9 seconds. That is with a few modifications on both cars.

That is for the lighter 2000-2001 and older models.

The outback has a longer final drive then the RS, so it is going to be different. The outback has 3.900 compared to 4.444:1

Shows how long I've been away from Subarus! I thought they were 4.111:1 Oh well.
Hey, while I got everybody's attention... I was looking into CAIs, what's this about them hurting low-end torque on our cars? I installed a Volant on my Focus and it helped its low-end immensely!

Well the RS is 4.111.

The TS is 3.900 but has smaller tires.....

The OBS has 205/55/16, the same as the RS.

The clutch is the same for all EJ25 5MT.

Phil =)

well then they screwed up the RS... the 1st gen RS has a much more aggressive clutch... makes for better acceleration for sure... the newer clutch is squishy and more like that on a non-sports car...

Danz, don't tihnk I didn't notice your joke about my using teh instead of the earlier

To the other guy, the GanzFlow intake preserves low end power, while improving midrange and top end. The Cobb seems to preserve most of the low end power, and has a few HP more up top (guessing 2-6 hp more) but is $130 more too.

Yo can buy either at www.subaruplanet.com/products.htm

I never tried the Volant, but I had iceman and focussport combination CAI.
After 8 recalls and horrid service I traded it. I don't really miss the car. Subaru's are much better quality cars. As for torque with CAI, as long as you go with the GanzFlow or Cobb's you will not lose hardly any low end at all. My suggestions for mods are Cobb CAI, UDP, a header back combination, and Cobb's Access ECU they are working on looks really interesting. You would have a very quick car with that combination.
