Default Car broke .. whats wrong ?

Hey guys i was fooling around wit a friend of mine tonight from a stop light and we brought it up to 50 then i let off and the car seemed fine but then all of a sudden it just like died and came to a stop. so i tried to restart it and it wouldnt stay running.. then i unplugged the MAF sensor and now i can drive the car but it wont go over 3500 rpm wihtout it acting all weird and bouging down. So what do you guys think .. is my MAF shot.. i dunno .. gimme your expertice.. thanks .. -Paul

iirc, isn't there a honor system to get a free maf that won't take a metaphorical "dump" for all subarus?
