Cash rules everything around me. As a result, I need bling. I want to hear you guys who have been inside it comment on the interior. Is it still kind if chintzy like my RS? How's the leather? Do the doors actually close like they're not made of balsa wood? How's the fit and finish? Also, my ice makes me cold so I need to know about the heat.
All kidding aside, how is the interior? I might ditch the RS in a couple years when I graduate and get a job in favor of something more bling. Somewhere between a Rio and a G-Wagon, maybe along the lines of an STI or 325i or G35 or something. ![]()

Just about. A touch nicer but not much. How's the leather? Nonexistant AFAIK. Do the doors actually close like they're not made of balsa wood? Yes. How's the fit and finish? Like a Subaru. Overall: the interior is fine, just nothing to get excited about. Very Subaru: it works and works fine but that's about it. The gauge cluster though is pretty nice. |

bling is the 'sound' that light makes when it reflects off an object at you. this is the literal translation, now an interior can be 'bling’n' and still not be shiny in the literal sence. |

Tisk, I expect the I-club crowd to be more hip. I meant Bling as in quality and luxury. The following are the epitomy of Bling:
G-Wagons Escalades Yukon Denalis 24's with spinners TV's in headrests Actually, Obsidian answered my question. See, my RS interior is not bling. OMG I had an awesome idea! You know what subaru needs? An entire bling division like Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, and Nissan?Infiniti! Wow, that would be off da heezy. Fo shizzle! |

For the times the following were Subaru 'Bling';
- '88 GL-10 Turbo with factory Air Suspension and digital readout dash. Fully loaded with 'hi-end' Pioneer DIN radio & casette including a graphic equalizer (manual control) six speakers anda power sunroof. It came with nice aluminum alloy 14" 'performance' wheels too. They didn't have leather but a real nice for the time crushed velour like seating and interior surface that was warm in winter and cool in summer. - '89 XT6 (replacement for the XT-4 Turbo which was also sweet). Six cylinders, AWD, air suspension, wedge design like the pricier Triumph TR-7, power sunroof, full electric everything, 15" aluminum alloy wheels, dual exhaust tips (chrome), 5 speed or auto, standard driving lamps, and real fast in a striaght line. - '92 SVX LSi (LSi included sunroof & the rear decklid wing). A direct replacement for the entire XT4 & XT6 it was a showstopper at the time. Very bling with design by Giugarrio and performance to back it up, sort of. It came stock with 16" wheels on low profile tires (Dumlop I think), standard tape & CD player, hide away panel, leather interior, true climate control, suede interior on doors & dashboard, and split window design great for staying dry at toll booths when its raining. After the death of the SVX I haven't really seen a Subie that qualifies as bling in comparison to what is available in the competing market. I don't think the STi will be bling either though I'm sure most will consider it 'ricey', as does my wifey. - Janq aka 'Uncle Ben' |

But in all honesty, here is a good quote about the EVO Makinen that applies equally well to the STi: "If you have time to even notice, never mind take delight in, the quality of the interior, you're not using it properly." ---CAR, July 2000--- |

if you want bling, buy teh srt-4.
teh STi is not a bling car nor should that even be a thought/concern when buying one. |

I would have to see it again, but I used to love the digital dash in the XT6. Speedo bars going up on one side with RPM bars going up on the other side and all kinds of other do-dads. My memory could be playing funny tricks too.
OK I just found a picture on the internet, maybe I wouldn't want one after all in my STi...... Last edited by spburns74; 04-03-2003 at 09:51 PM. |
