Default zero backpressure?

I was boerd at work today and was doing alittle thinking.

Where the headers connect to the cats it bends toward the passanger side. What if you made a pipe that went straight out the side of the car, say behind the front wheel. Ofcouse it would be loud as hell, and for offroad use. Would there be any benifit? Or would it hurt proformance, because there wouldn't be much backpressure?

If not that how about replacing the cats and midpipe with a single straight pipe to a freeflow muffler?

Any Ideas?

Behind Front Wheel recently discussed

Straight pipes are also possible, search around for people who have them (I think Igg has one on his older car).
