Default STI ECU/DBW Reflash/ECUTECH?

I know this was brought up at first, but is there any new info from the aftermarket about reprogrammed ECUs, ECUTECH and any issues with the drive-by-wire system?

AFAIK the US-Spec STi uses a different ECU from every other WRX and STi. This alone may mean it's not worth ECU hacker's time to figure out how it works. Only time will tell though...

Some ECUTEK dealers already have reflashes for the STi.

How did they manage that considering the car hasn't been released yet? Are you telling me Subaru gave a US-Spec WRX STi to ECUTEK to hack?

Car hasn't been officially released, but they(the reflashes) are out there... Ask around, and I bet you'll find them too.

I don't know how there can be a reflash if no one knows what ECU is being used yet

Well, if that's true then to do any kind of an significant performance upgrade tuners are gonna have to replce the intake, throttle body, linkage from accelerator peddle, and the complete engine management and a bunch of other things.

A 2.5l motor should be capable of much more than 300hp. Would be said to think that this car is basically un-modifiable..

If this is true then I guess what one should do is wait till one of this things is wrecked, pull the engine and drivetrain and install it into a late model WRX....

I was hoping to get some decent info. Guess I will have to wait a little longer.

Are there not press cars rolling around places? What about the car that Vinishu tested? There are here, and people do know the ECU's... Just do the math.

bottom line, ECUtek did state that they would begin work on the U.S. Sti as soon as they get a hold of 1 of those ECU's. So just givem a little time guys they will indeed come out with it. IF the U.S. Sti ECU employs the same encoding as the older WRX's then it will be just a matter of figuring out how to deal with the new features such as the variable valve timing an dupdate their "flash" program. The rest is up to the tuner to come up with a reliable map and at the same time providing a good performance upgrade. This last one basically involves lots of runs on a Dyno.
