Default UK spec package but look at 0-60 number

STi Performance Pack
Power-
This pack raises Peak Power to 305ps (300bhp) @ 6000rpm - a 15% increase.
Torque-
Peak torque is now 405Nm (299lbft) @ 4000rpm
The car now has more torque between 3000 and 5800rpm than the std car has at it's peak figure. At 2500rpm it has nearly 30% more torque than the std car and 20% more at 3000rpm.
Parts changed are as follows-
Revised EMS (Engine Management System)
High flow catalyst
Sports silencer
Performance fuel pump
Performance figures-
0-60 = 4.62 secs Vs 5.17 secs (std car)
0-100 = 12.20 secs Vs 13.69 secs (std car)

I must admit I have been wondering about those 0-60 figures for the UK PPP STi ever since I first heard about them, especially in comparison to the USDM STI's much quoted 4.8s.

I guess there are a bunch of other factors to take into account like weight and DCCD etc.

Hopefully SOA have just been conservative with their 4.8s figure. Not that I'm complaining about 4.8 mind you..

You got to think the active valve system which only the us sti will have, has to help with low end torque as well.

Default STI zero - 60 times......

Guys,..keep in mind the 2.0 litre uk STI reaches 60 mph in 2nd gear due to its almost 8k redline,..where ours will require an upshift to 3rd gear. If you read every article on this car,..I think one speaks of being at like 7800 in second gear to hit 60 mph, with the perfect launch. So ,.again,..our US STI will not be a car that "numbers" will tell the story,..the in gear times and seat of the pants torque will be the key.

944 is right. If we have to shift 2 times to hit 60 it would definitly lower 0-60 times. But to us auto-x'rs, the gearing will be much more usable.

Even though the redline is 7000, I bet you can run to 7200 or 7400 or so before you hit the limiter. Not enough to make a huge difference though.

Cool

The evo requires 2 shifts to get to 60 as well I believe, so when the STi is faster they won't blame it on the # of shifts.

Yup...
forget the 0-60 times... i'm waiting for the 1/4 mile times..
I do hope that USDM STi will get a shorter 5th and 6th gear..

There is another thread that talks about the gearing, but there will definitely be two shifts to 60. Here are some calculations based on the stock wheels and gearing with shifts at 7000 rpm:

Gear MPH
1 36.57
2 55.98
3 75.50
4 98.78
5 136.93
6 175.87

If you can eek out another 100-200 rpm before the fuel cut, you can get 1-2 mph more in each gear.

The fact that Subaru is claiming 0-60 in 4.8 is quite amazing considering there are two shifts.

BTW, the 5 speed Evos hit 60 at 7000 rpm in 2nd gear, so it only needs one shift.

I have read that the Evo is at read line in 4th gear at the end of the quater mile. That is around 101-102mph. They only have a five speed. I think with that kind of gearing you deffinitly need a 6th gear.
That info came from this months issue of Sport Compact Car.
