ALWAYS be sceptical

I noticed that according to the Autocar article, the STi weighs 60kg (132lbs) more than the EVO. Since the USDM STi is expected to weigh the same as the USDM EVO, the handling comparison could tilt in favor of the STi.

However, It is still definately worthwhile to TRY to test the EVO before buying the STi and vice versa. Ok, most Mitsubishi dealers will NOT give away a test drive, but I will call as many as i can just to see if can get lucky.

Another thing to keep in mind is that we don't REALLY know what the journalists have to say about the USDM cars until they officially publish their opinions after May 1. I certainly would NOT trust third-hand info or even "off-the-cuff" remarks on various messageboards. Again, keep in mind what Jeremy Clarkson said on the topic of honest journalism in his recent Sunday Times article on the STi and the EVO.

Even after May 1, I wouldn't trust just ANY journalist's opinion on "handling" unless that journalist has a PROVEN racing background that shows that they are capable of extracting most of what the car has to offer.

I would like to here what they all have to say regardless of background, and especially if they have also driven an Evo in the same scenerio. I just want to know the reporter's history first. if they raced professionally, fine. If it is there first time sitting in an AWD car, that's fine too. I want to know the oppinions of everyone that had a first hand drive.

I just wish most of the people buying would have PROVEN racing backgrounds as well My initial thought is that well over 90% of the cars sold will be well beyond the capabilities of their buyers!
