Hey... I did search, but could not find out why the badges and the theme color (outside of WRB/gold combo) of STi is pink.
Why pink? What's in the color? I guess its a good thing that they didn't go w/a rainbow theme? ![]()

To be different.
Blue and Gold was the ugliest combination on a car I had ever seen when I saw my first RS, but I didn't know the rally car was that color. Now I kinda like the blue and gold because I know what it represents. So Subaru just likes to be different and let the mechanicals speak louder than their paint jobs... -BrianK |

the pink STi uses is a "cherry blossom" pink. it has a lot of cultural connotations for the japanese. i believe that it has been STi's signiture color since they started up.

represents "new life" "celebration"... I believe
![]() I believe this was discussed in the past... (I asked this question a couple years ago... but dont remember all of the details) "In Japanese, the color is sakura (or sakura iro). This has deep meaning and connotation in Japanese. It can be translated to "cherry blossom" in English. I don't agree with the translation, "Cherry Blossom Red." Setting aside all the Japanese cultural connections with cherry blossoms, realistically, cherry blossoms are more pink than red, so I think it's safe to call it pink. To really confuse things, cherry blossoms change colors yearly depending on conditions and fade in color as they age." ta daa. Last edited by hoodwho; 04-08-2003 at 12:35 PM. |

the other thing to keep in mind.
as opposite our culture. in Japan, Pink is a very masculine color. Where as blue is a very feminine color, opposite the way we often see it. So PInk is strong and manly, translating into a strong car.... a little different! p-rex |

i first became intrigued when i saw a japanese drifting car trimmed in pink, and the driver wearing a pink shirt. he also had some japanese stuffed animal on the dash. $50K+ nissan silva with pink stuffed animals in it...a little different culture. I know it sounds strange, but I am actually not making it up. I did a little research, so all the different websites I saw may be lying, but I am not ![]() p-rex |

simple answer?
because nothing else clashes with blue and gold. or it may have something to do with the car's soul, one or the other. Either way, they won't last long ![]() |
