Default wheel and tire qn

I'm thinking of buying a set of 17" Prodrive P7s with 215/45/17 Kumhos on them, but before I do, I just want to check if I'll have any rubbing issues? Has anyone done a similar swap?

I know the size difference will affect my speedo readings too, now if I can only find the thread that talked about how to calculate that... :P

Also, any thoughts on how the new wheels will affect the OB's performance? I think they're going to be heavier than the standard 15" alloys, not sure if the weight difference will be significant enough to impair performance.

Oh, and if the deal does work out, anyone want a set of 15" 5-spoke alloys?

You're going to be running about 5% over, speedwise (so 50mph = 47.5 actual) but it's debatable whether the tolerances for the speedo reporting make it a moot point anyways. My car (a 97 limited, too) got a bit quicker with the smaller OD (I went to 16x7 RS wheels and 205/55/16's, but same OD.

You're not gonna be even close to rubbing, you're going to have massive fender gap, though...

This is a pic wth slightly taller tires, these are 215/55/16's, so they fill the fenders a hair better, but you get the general idea.
Your'e going to want to find a way to either lower it, or put some chunky tires on and go with the lifted look (i'm tempted to put some BFG All terrains on mine....lol)

Thanks, I like it. Pulling all the gold stripes off made a huge difference IMO...

As for the wheels, they're actually OEM off a '99 2.5 RS.
16x7, ET53. they're the same as the gold ones you see on a couple of cars around. Strong as hell, they get abused but are totally solid.

The new GT wheels are 16x6.5, IIRC, but they look pretty nice.

I picked these up from my local dealer for a song, $250 with almost new RE92s...

My tires were always too wide for my rims on my old cars, I decidied I'd rather run a wider wheel to improve transitory response (at one point, on my old car, I was running 195/60/13's on 5 inch rims, talk about whipping around on the limit.....)
